My Missile Command Cockpit. How far should I take it??

Here are a few pics of my Missile Command Cockpit that I picked up a few weeks ago. I have many restore projects before this one. My question is how far should I take the restoration.

Things I plan to do, Rebuild coin door, its trashed!!
Repaint inside and front and back Black
Install new rollers, bearings and Rollerball. I have this thanks to Dokert.
Replace front and back art, that I bought this week:)

To go all the way sideart would have to be reproduced, Im checking on that it might be possible. Someone in another thread suggested taping and painting. Im not sure if this would work.

I want this baby nice. How far would you guys go with it??

Personally, I wouldn't even try to touch up or repaint the sides. There is too much room for something to go wrong, and MC cockpits are exceedingly rare. At least from my personal experience, just leaving the side art as-is (of course, it doesn't hurt to wipe it down to remove dust/dirt) is the best course of action.

I would definitely check the PCB edges, voltages on the ARII board, and get the PS rebuild kit (w/ "Big Blue") from Bob Roberts.

Overall, that artwork looks really nice!

Get it working, fix up any obvious cosmetic flaws but leave the rest alone. It looks good as it is.

There aren't many of those out there... let alone in super nice, restored condition. I say if you have the means, go all the way. It's a classic that needs you to represent for it!

the one side is excellent and the other does have some damage.I dont think new side art is needed though...a skilled touch with an air spray gun and some taping work would work miracles....fill in the missing chunk with filler...sand...paint and it will look decent.

I think that is a pretty decent cab and yes it is on the rare side.....I also think it does not need a wholesale restoration....but that is just my opinion....nice score though all the same.

whats with the art on the dining room table? Is that an early attempt to reproduce the artwork?

I would say do as little as possible. Repair the cabinet ding as best you can. if the inside needs redoing, go for it. But as for the outside art, Leave it alone or touch up...

A little wear is better than reproduction crap..

Id put the weaker condition side against the wall and concentrate on some of the more obvious flaws like many of the posters mentioned previously. It looks like its in pretty nice shape man, congrats! The monitor is a 25" as opposed to the 19" in the UR? Awesome stuff!

Don't paint the inside if it wasn't painted. Don't spray anything black that wasn't originally paint. Though I haven't seen the game, I strongly suspect all the black is either vinyl or the hard formica stuff. I'd only 'restore' stuff using original method, especially on a cabinet this rare. Thisoldgame sells the black vinyl.

I just bought these art pieces, they are the front and the back art. I was told Archer Mclean ran these years ago!!:)

The inside was painted black, Im pretty sure that was original. I agree I dont want to change what it was.

nice that you found it. I have not see the inside of one in years, but I think I remember the armrest part (as your sitting on the right side wall) that part had painted graphics. I think the rest is just black..

found a decent interior shot..

Let me review..

You have a nice Lunar Lander (and you're awesome at it)

You have a missile command cockpit.

I hate you! :(

But much less than I did before I had a decent Lunar Lander and a missile command upright.

Fantastic pickup!!! Yes, clean or replace those edge connectors, do the AR rebuild kit (or send it to me :)) and get the multikit.

The SMA that's installed, is it ROMs only or the old GCC kit?
