Thanks, I really came out nice, although I still need to do a couple things, the image is slightly rotated I think I need to rotate the yoke a little, and I am still going to cap and replace fly back and HOT.

Good work Tighe. Glad you finally got to it.
I feel your pain on the tube. I was organizing my parts last week and I lightly knocked the neck board on a original tron monitor and head the dreaded hiss.
If you didn't replace anything on the original chassis and got such a nice pic with a new tube, would that mean the original tube was shot anyway? I remember it was really washed out/dim.
Also, did you fix the suicide battery?

The original tube might probably could have used a zap from my rejuvenator, but also I washed the chassis that was was so dusty that it was probably making it look like crap too. I have a theory too that when you wash a chassis, it might make the caps work better for a little while.

I am still going to cap it and replace the flyback and HOT, cause I don't want to have to open this thing up again for a long time.

Is that TRON monitor out of that water-logged one from the Amsterdam area? You going to swap the tube? What is that a K4600?

As for the suicide battery, I was lucky to get a board that doesn't have a battery in the chip.

So this morning I installed a cap kit, new flyback, HOT and I rotated the yoke a little. I still need to converge it, what is with the sucky test pattern on SHO? I will have to wheel it up next to my MK1 for a good pattern for converging this monitor.

Its funny to notice the similarities between this and outrun...

Cool job though. I haven't built up the courage to try a tube swap... I guess if I was in the situation you were id be forced to.

Nice work man!

Kind of glad it happened, cause now I know how easy it is if you find the right tube.
