My latest trade acquisition - Sonic Missile Command

Last saturday I did a trade with Jon (jumpman), my Asteroids upright for his Sonic Missile Command. I recently bought Jim's (YodaInMN) Asteroids cabaret, so I was able to use my upright for trade bait. Jon's happy with the Asteroids, and I'm happy with the Sonic MC. This thing is a fairly rare beast. Not sure what I'm gonna do with it yet. I have mixed feelings about selling or trading it, but we'll see. The artwork is just so damn cool. The bezel and marquee are glass, and the coin door and kickplate are stainless. Cab is solid. Side art is rough. Not sure what could be done about that. Anyway, enjoy the pics.

Here's Jon's write up on coinopspace:

Sweet. BTB, you wanna sell your other MC? If so, let me know. I've been looking for the Atari version for a while.

Cool story Bro.....

On a side note, I cannot wait to see it at the next party John!

I looked that up and you should contribute a photo because there are none not even a marquee pic. I would contribute a photo to help the data base and KLOV. It would help!

Whoa, sweet. I guess you won't be selling the old girl after all. Can't wait to play it in it's new dedicated launch room. Will I have to take a radiation shower afterward like Connery did in Dr. No?

Well, as of now I don't think I could let my Atari version go. But that's what I thought about my Robotron, Tempest, Tapper, Sinistar, Tron, Mr. Do!, Ms. Pac-Man, Burgertime, Pole Position, Space Duel, Battlezone, Galaxian, and a few others I've forgotten about. So we'll see. And if you wear the required "fallout suit" I have in stock then you won't need the radiation shower after leaving the "Missile Command."

I almost forgot, the "Missile Command" room is painted "urban midnight", and I went with a light tan epoxy on the floor. This was my overflowing storage room, but after getting rid of a bunch of stuff and consolidating everything else, I was able to fit everything back in there (mostly Xmas and Halloween stuff) and have room for 4 games and the pilot. I also mounted a vintage speaker in there (thanks Jim) above the door for tunes. Its really a cool room, the pics don't quite give it justice.

I'm glad your happy about the trade, I will miss "El Missile Command" but I'm really happy to get my first vector game from you. The next day I picked up another vector game and the guy had an old Sonic Segassa pinball, it had the same coin door. Hopefully you can get ELMC it's own klov listing..

Very nice Missile Command! I especially like the Mr. Do! made out of a Trimline. One day...

I swear, those creepy "pilots" look like World War I gas mask suits. However, the plane in that Missile Command room begs for a Time Pilot!

Loving the game room feel!

The pilot with the tan suit has a genuine WWII European gas mask, but the suit is just a modern surplus. The other pilot, pictured here has a genuine WWII Navy Optical gas mask, and a genuine Korean War pilots suit.

Here's a couple of shots of the Mr. Do! before I moved it to the "Missile Command". I picked it up from Allen (alejandromad) a couple of months ago.

Solid Sea Wolf too! I play that every time I go to the Manitou Springs Penny Arcade.

I remember that Mr. Do! thread... I also remember being very jealous :D I've been looking for a good local Mr. Do!. I did find one out of state, but I'm not sure if I can make the trip.

Those suits must be easy conversation pieces! I would have one sitting in a chair in front of a bunch of doomsday controls (Christmas lights) and one in a simulated cockpit. Or, maybe one looking like he's playing an arcade game or doing housework haha.

By the way, what are those square pads under the machines? Are they like sliders?

Yeah, the square pads (platforms) are plywood with carpet strips glued underneath. Makes the games slide easy, and they are up just a bit to protect from minor flooding. They have saved my games twice now....

Good luck on finding a Mr. Do! Love that game. If I had more room I'd have more pilots without a doubt!
