My latest restore (Atari Centipede) and it's almost finished

one of the best games EVER! Centipede. Should be done soon, and may be available for purchase if anyone is looking for a centipede. had a potential buyer but I think the sale is going to fall through as I haven't heard from them in months :( this one is so nice I almost am tempted to swap it for my personal centipede, however I am emotionally attached to my current centipede.

Thx!

I used this stuff for the larger issues and drywall spackle for the minor divots etc.

I generally avoid bondo except really large damage as it dries so hard it's hard to smooth, but it does work great for the large areas where you need a lot of strength and quick setting ability

I love the drywall spackle for areas that that are not large edges or just minor fixes as it sands down so easy and smooth

The stuff in the image falls somewhere between bondo and spackle

wow my 1943 turned out nice... well done bringing it back to life...

Thanks! This is by far one of my nicest restores yet, I'm really happy with how the sides turned out, super smooth and the edges sharp and clean.

It's available if you want to buy it back :) I'd love to see this go to someone that can really appreciate it. If I had space I'd keep it myself and be like the old arcade I use to go to with two centipedes side by side! Lol

I think the trick to bondo is sanding it before it fully cures. Here in Arizona that's approximately 2 minutes. I'm going to try spackle and plastic wood next time.

Oh certainly do as much bondo reduction as possible before it dries. Usually when I do bondo I'll usually leave is just a bit concave and build up the last little layer with spackle or plastic wood. So I can sand smooth. Having any bumps in the bondo that breaks the plane or the surface around it is just s hard to get even so I always try to keep it below the surface of the surrounding wood,

The plastic wood works well but seems to take forever to dry and is much less stiff than bondo which makes it harder to shape unless you have something that holds it in place and shapes it well. But it's so much easier to and with and still very strong and very good for areas that it does not need to hold its shape when it dries.

I actually like how fast bondo sets but not fun if you have a lot to do and I never seem to have enough hardener compared to the other component. :(
