My last video game acquisition (for now): Donkey Kong mini...

Here's some pictures. I'd been looking for one of these for a long time, so I overpaid for it. But the cabinet, controls, and innards (sans PCB) are, for the most part, original and in good shape. Serial # 1056. I love it.

I've got questions, though:

*The monitor is a little blurry at lower right (not as bad as it looks in the pictures); could this be a degaussing issue?

*See PCB picture. This looks like a DKJr. board converted to a Double Donkey Kong. Where the heck is the volume pot? Can't find it on the board, and I'd like to turn it up...

Sweet! I like the looks of it. Where did you find it?(What state are you in? LOL)

I'm in California. It was on eBay for a long time with no buyers. Probably the price (and I can't blame `em - it was too expensive).

It's got wheels on the back, too. Very easy to move.

Hell, if you had the money and you're happy with it, then IMO you didn't overpay. Congrats!

Found it, in the most inconvenient place: under the monitor glass. lol...

No wonder it's been turned down: Double Donkey Kong's DK noises are annoying. Did anyone ever make a sound upgrade for this thing, or do I need to swap in a DK board to fix it?

Its a game you really want , then sometimes you gotta overpay .

Nice looking DK . If its a DDK board then your stuck with the sounds .

What I want to know is what is that mini cocktail on top of the Warlords? I want one. :D

Edit: Also, clean the monitor, bezel inside and out, etc... Sometimes it is just crap that has gathered over the years making it blurry considering there are at least three surfaces that stuff can build up on.

Nice little cab you got there! DK minis are not ones that you see too often.

Thanks!

Nice Score. Don't see too many mini's. I see you say the serial number is 01056. What is the model number? TKG3-XX-US?????

Murph

Let's see; it says:

TKG3-SUP-US
01056

Space Invaders cocktail table bank, from Tomy. I made a thread about it earlier - it actually plays a game of S.I.!

I checked - it's the monitor itself. Not a huge distraction, but it's there.

great score damon. i like that mini dk and those things are mos def rare!

nice meeting you over the weekend :) chris

Nice meeting you too, Chris! Yeah, I'm happy with it.

I adjusted the sound, messed with a few other knobs, and did a minor touch-up on the felt on the monitor bezel that goes under the glass (thank you, black magic marker). Such a small thing to do, but the little stuff makes a difference. Before is left, after is right....

I've been looking for a cheap one for a while now, but they are very hard to come by. Nice score, looks great.

Thanks!

I originally wanted a DK mini before getting my UR, but I was perfectly happy with the UR once I had it. Now that I was forced to downsize my collection (space constraints), I'm glad I was able to find what I was looking for in the first place.

I like the orange / black "Jump" button on this one - totally fits the color scheme of the cabinet. Wonder if it's factory...

I've been wondering the same thing, but can't seem to find out cause I can barely find any pictures on the CP. The picture on KLOV shows an orange button, but another picture I found shows the same one yours has, so I have no idea.

nice score on that! i've got a cocktail but would get rid of it for a mini in a heartbeat if i saw one. unique cab design. kinda reminds me of some of the space invader minis.

I'm embarrassed to say I haven't even heard of such a machine before, but that is incredible! I like it over the normal cabinet, personally, it has so much more personality and isn't a generic Nintendo cab. Very nice score indeed!
