Found another early 80's Williams cab at the dump. A can of bondo and two cans of paint later this is the semi-finished product.

Thanks for sharing.

hmmm, might wanna continue posting about it here http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/board,10.0.html
I don't like the direction you're heading.

good day.

Direction? Oh you mean the direction it was facing in the wood scrap pile at the dump? I saved this cabinet and preserved it. Now some day if someone wants to use it for a true restoration project it will be here not shredded for plywood. It had fist size holes in the side where someone had shot it with a shotgun! Would you have saved it?

good day.

oh Snap!

Since it was destined to rot or be burned i say go with it ;)

With a Williams cabinet I suggest a 19 in 1 board or a jrok board. Also I suggest returning the 24" lcd and grabbing a 21" crt pc monitor off craigslist instead. It will look a lot better and will actually be the right aspect ratio.

Thanks for the tips.

I know resolution will be off but I did get the best up converter on the market. It automatically detects correct resolution, it also has RGB gain adjustments. The cab is set up for a vertical screen, I am going to mount the screen further back and at a 45 degree angle. Similar feel to the old vector screen placement. It gives the screen and game play a 3d effect. But I do have an old crt monitor I will give it a try too. I also painted inside the cab flat black to increase effect and reduce unwanted glare. Since this cab was a long shot in repairing, I figure I will experiment with it. I will post pictures when it's completed.

To be honest I didn't have high hopes for the project so I didn't take any before pictures. I blame how decent it came out on a four day mania filled drive to get it done. Here's a picture after I sanded it down and applied bondo. almost every edge needed major filler. The another side was heavily damaged (not shown). I was told to just cut another piece of plywood and replace it, but I didn't. If you look closely on one of the pictures you can see the 1/4" deep rip in the side.

I can see the finish line!

almost done. Just waiting on a couple parts and t-molding via Twisted Quarter and I can fire it up. I put a marquee I had laying around just to see what it would look like. I'm happy with it.

The dump was ok with you taking it? We can't take stuff back out of the dump here in MD.

I live in the country and they are pretty laid back. I figure less weight for them to haul away. They usually leave out cool stuff for people to take. Most of the time it's exercise equipment, old computers and TVs.

Our dumps the same way. Of course I have never seen anything cool worth taking as of yet.

All done.

Installed the 24" Samsung Monitor with a Sintron CGA to VGA converter. Plays great and looks good. My cell phone camera sucks....
