Hi Fellas,

My Joust took a dump. I'm getting vert jail bars then a repeating rug pattern loop. The rom board inside reads a blinking 1-1-7. I'm guessing this is a single chip gone bad.

another issue is...This board is the old ROM rev chips (white/red) but I'd like to upgrade to the newest ROM revs (white/green) so I guess what I'm looking for is a spare white/green rom board or at minimum this 1-1-7 chip replaced and whatever chips need to be upgraded so it is the final white/green release ver ROMs. Anybody able to do this? I can do paypal.

Thanks a bunch,

Eric

Hey Eric

Ram error, bank 1 chip 7 which is the 2nd from last chip (top right), either a 4116 or 4164 if converted, replace that chip, error should be gone. As to the 2nd revision set, all you need is someone to burn the eproms and replace them for yours, anyone with the correct programmer can do this, files are available from mame romset

I've got a couple working yellow label rom joust pcbs.. Also have a brand new williams ATX ps adapter and new ATX ps with -5 for sale..

Cool, I appreciate it.

I'm gonna keep the old school Linear but that conversion sounds good when it does go.
Dang, I really need the green roms. Let me hold off on the Yellow rom board(s) for now. I'd like to keep looking for a spare board with greens already in it.

Got it... Thanks for the info Mate, so top row of the picture, 2nd from right. (huntin' around for my mini screwdriver).

Try moving the chip left or right. If the error moves with it, it is the chip. If it goes away, it was probably some oxidation on the leges and it got cleaned when you reseated it.

Also if you want a set of Green ROMs burned, PM Steph or checkout www.hobbyroms.com. I use Steph when I need ROM sets and I'm too lazy, I mean busy, to burn my own. ;)

Thanks Ken,

That's just what I needed. I swapped the chip with the one in 1-1-8 and the error code followed the chip. So looks like a new 4116 ram chip and I'm back in biz. Cool beans about Steph.
