First, I want to thank Jehuie for recommending Hyperspin as the frontend of choice for MAME. After seeing his setup and he showed me how easy it is to configure, I had to try it out when I got home. I was not at all disappointed.

Second, I want to give props to Circo and the Hyperspin team. They did an amazing job on this program. I've tried a handful of other frontends like MALA and was never impressed. Out of all the frontends, Hyperspin was the easiest to setup and the end product is immaculate. Just letting it run in the background on random spin is great for adding a little ambiance to an arcade/game room.

Here's what I have in my current setup:

- Asus 10.1" Netbook 1.6 Ghz Intel Atom 2GB RAM: This is my portable MAME machine pretty much. It's not the best hardware, but it does the job for the majority of the games I want to play. It even runs some CPS2 and CPS3 games surprisingly well.

- Xbox 360 SFIV Tournament Edition USB Joystick: Straight plug and play.

- Benq DLP Projector: About 70-80" projection.

- White Matte Curtain: Cheap screen solution. $50 at IKEA. Works like a charm and hides away well.

I apologize in advance for my rambling. Though, I hope you enjoy the video and that you'll give it a try. You won't be disappointed. For more info, tutorials and content, go to www.hyperspin-fe.com

Very VERY nice! Good to hear that it works well on that kind of hardware! I bought myself some mac mini-ish ACER box with the same cpu, and i'm going to set it up in a small bartop cab, and I was worried that this frontend wouldnt work well with it!

It's very classy looking!

I agree! After seeing the setup Jehuie had running I new I had to check it out, so thanks to you guys for pointing this out.
I had seen Hyperspin before while looking into a VirtualPin cab that Shilmover was making and that used a front end made by the same community. They have a GREAT forum over there and are very helpful with tons of information!
It makes a GREAT addition to any gameroom, I have been running HS on my 42 inch flatscreen with a 360 controller but cant wait till my Capcom fightstick arrives!

Hyperspin absolutely kicks ass! Nice looking setup.

I dig the screen (aka curtain). $50.00 is way cheap and it seems like it looks just fine. I'm putting together a 110" 16:9 setup so I'm always looking for suggestions.

any chance someone would be interested in selling the entire config, less the roms of course. im really diggin it but the setup time and knowledge might be an issue.

Hyperspins setup isnt that bad after you got the flow of things. The end result is really worth the time put into it.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Yeah, my real intent was to show how great this frontend is and I can't say it enough. I know most couldn't care less about MAME in general. Haha.

To reiterate, this is an easy setup in comparison to some of the other frontends that are out there. Hyperspin does a good job of providing tutorials and troubleshooting on the website and in their forums. So do your research and get it going. As others have said, the end result is worth the time.

Gozer, I'm still rearranging and trying to get the game room decorated with framed posters, toys, etc. There's always something to work on to create an ambiance and fun environment that's not too over the top. I have plenty of Star Wars, Nintendo, 80s, etc. doodads that I could put on display, but I'm trying to restrain myself and make it look presentable and not trashed. :)

Here's a video (1080p!) of my plug 'n play Hyperspin MAME setup on my Double Dragon.

I should thank PrairieDillo for helping me bring my Double Dragon back to its former glory (monitor, glass, and joysticks) and for helping me put together the Hyperspin setup.

No dedicated cabinets were harmed during the filming of this video.

I was holding my daughter while filming which explains the "Ooooh..." when I got to the Hyperspin menu. :)

Hyperspin is a great frontend. If I still had a cab in the house it would be loaded for sure.

FYI, that cardboard box thing on the bottom of your Double Dragon conducts electricity. You should probably make sure that your JAMMA to VGA board is isolated from it.

Thanks for the heads up. It looks like it's touching, but because it's kind of hanging down over the drawer, it's really not. Also, I don't always have it hooked up like this. I have a wooden board that I use to mount all of the components, but I removed it because I'm working on possibly mounting everything in a plastic box.

"TIE" - "TOE" and soften that second "T" so it's almost "DOH"
my ears are bleeding. It's not a name that doesn't transfer to american english well.

then again I say "Wry You" instead of "RUE" for SF2, don't throw a rock at me.

When you going to put some feet on that puppy!

Haha, Tomayto-Tomahto. Feet are all it needs now. I'll get to it.
