At the start of this New Year I found myself with two Dynamo HS1 cabs.
One was an original SF2 WW that was in dire need of a full restoration. The other was a better condition cab but a HS1 with a blown tube K7000 and a red modular HS1 Control Panel stuffed with Ultimates and set up with a Neo Geo Single Slot.
Eseyo1 was on a rabid search for a Dynamo HS1 SF2:WW so I sold him the first one because it would go to a good home. I was trying hard to make space. Seeing how his other restorations came out, I knew that this one would see a rebirth in his hands.
It started me all over for my own HS1 SF2 Quest but I was also considering changing up to a HS5 because I found the 19" a little cramped. Now I have both so am now doing a partial restoration of the HS1 so that I can put it out into service (don't flame me) I have a good safe place to put it out into service and need a Capcom Fighter machine in there.
This machine is in pretty good shape but still needs a patch and paint. It really needed a true 6 button HS1 setup but I finally figured out that none of the HS1 machines had the 6 buttons punched correctly like the HS5 machines. The joystick X-axis lines up with the punch buttons and although I can play with it, I prefer it to be equidistant to the punch and kick buttons… hope that makes sense.
I got this broken Neo Geo HS1 for cheap (after selling off the Neo Geo gear) so it was mainly about getting a working monitor and the right control panel on there. A local friend set me up with a great monitor Nanao MC2000S. I still don't have everything wired up and working. Eseyo1 got started on his CP, and I sourcing one from 60 miles away (8-bit.) I couldn't wait to get started on it…
Control Panel before pictures and the rest…
Here's the treatment the control panel got.
1) Stripped down, Heat gun, brake cleaner/steel wool and wire wheel.
2) White metal primer, Black enamel glossy conter cuts painted.
3) NOS Capcom Speckle overlay (Championship timeline)
4) Acrylic 3/16" top w/ a flame beveled edge.
5) Bob's 3/16" x 1 1/4" Black Carriage Bolts
6) Happ Competition joysticks set on 1/2" plywood spacers shot w/ black paint.
7) Happ standard Horizontal mount pushbuttons.
TAPPS PLASTICS I AM NOT but the top plate came out just awesome. It's one of the very best I've ever cut. Eseyo1 turned me to some tips from Tapps website about how to bevel the edge after cutting. Acrylic does look just awesome when it's brand new.
