Hello! I've been lurking on these forums for a few months now, so I thought I'd formally introduce myself. My name is James, and I'm a new collector in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. I bought my first game at an auction in May, and since then I've managed to acquire three more!
Warning: pics ahead.
My first machine was a Rampage World Tour in pretty good condition.
It needed very little work done on it - just a joystick replacement for the third player. This is an original dedicated model with the awesome full side art.
My next purchase was an Asteroids Deluxe cocktail, courtesy of Arcade1VA. This was also in great shape - the monitor was doing some strange zoom-in/zoom-out business, but it seems to have gone away on its own!
Robomayhem hooked me up with my grail for a very reasonable cost: Ms. Pac-man. Her paint is pretty faded, but other than that she works quite well. I'm getting ready to attempt a repaint using stencils... we'll see how that goes. I haven't acquired the stencils yet, so if anyone has any recommendations for places to get them in or around Cleveland, I'd love to hear them!
This weekend I picked up a Tournament Arkanoid in a Centipede cabinet (CL find). The side art is hand-painted on... a valiant effort on the part of the previous owner, but not very durable. I'm debating whether or not to keep it as an Arkanoid or piece it back to its original Centipede-ness... as a game, I think I enjoy Arkanoid more, but that might just be because I haven't given Centipede its due. I'm saving that decision until I'm finished with the MsPac repaint.
So that's my arcade as of today. My dream is one day to have these all in a local classic arcade/museum, but even if that doesn't pan out I'm enjoying the collecting so far. I'm sure I'll be posting many questions in the months to come as I build and restore my collection. It's great to meet you all!
