I picked up a non-working GORF today. It powers on, the display lights up and so do all the lights, but no game.

The guy said that his neighbor left it with him years ago when he moved away and the game wouldn't fit in the moving van. It's been sitting for a while in his barn.

The cool thing is that it came with 2 extra sets of boards, an extra power supply and an extra control panel! Its not working now, but I'm excited to get this working and fully restored. Its a great find and I'm super excited about this one.

All in all its not in bad shape. Its a beautiful game.

I had a really decent Gorf years ago. Great cabinet and everything but with typical wear on the CP lettering. I should have kept it but I got a ton of cash for it.

Beat me to it. I emailed back and forth with the guy. That was good of him to hold it for you. You got a really good deal! I'm glad someone on Klov and local to me got it. A little work and you'll have a nice game.

Btw I'm just down the road if you ever need anything.

There are a few different boardsets as well (hard/easy) so they might actually be different which would be a nice grab for you as well.

He said that I was the 2nd person to see it and 2nd person to email him. I think I was really lucky on this one. For $100.00 it was plainly a steal.

Thanks JJ. Same goes to you. If you need anything let me know. I'm no pro by any means, but I'll drive a couple hours just to see a rare game. We should create a meetup group here in KY.

Well I must have been third in line then. Lol. The first guy was an idiot for not picking it up for the $. Since work will be slowing down soon I am going to organize a get together for the local guys. Meet and greet

The Molex plugs on those power supplies like to burn up, check that first along with the voltages. If all are present & accounted for, start out swapping those two smaller RAM boards in the cage with your spares.

Power on and see if there is a change. If not, try the other pair of spares, the other usual suspect board is the CPU. The early revision without the heat sink on the chip are usually bad.

That's the beauty of working on a GORF, you can swap around boards to isolate the trouble :)

Nice score!

Such a gorgeous game.

Right on! Beautiful game. Got to see one the other day in person, for the first time in years. Hopefully you can get that classic working.

Saw that posting - have a sister-in-law 20 minutes away from there. Would have jumped on it site-unseen for $100. But, I already have two!

Glad someone on here got it as well!

Glad someone else got it, I was travelling thru, and offered him fifty, unfortunately for me he didn't accept my offer til I was back in tn. I'm glad it went to a good home tho!

Thanks for the advice. I'll give this a try tomorrow when I get a second to look at it a bit closer.

lol, I called that guy too! I was struggling whether or not to pull the trigger on this one. Not a big Gorf fan but I am glad to see it went to a fellow KLOV'er. Congrats!

nice pickup.. I would grab the $39 arcadeshop power supply, drop it in and hopefully that will fix it..

you might want to check if the cpu and special chip have a heatsink on them.. If not, either use one of the cards frrom the other cages that does or look into adding one..

I went ahead and ordered the arcadeshop.com conversion power supplies. I needed one for my Burgertime anyways. Thanks for the tip.

I've got the Arcadeshop adapter in my Gorf and it helped out a lot. Definitely recommended.
