I was actually wanting to upgrade my crappie cell phone, but went into the laundro-mat next door to the cell phone place instead. Luckily I did, There was a dedicated Circus Charlie just sitting there, off and dead. (Kind of strange to me to find THAT cab in North Platte Nebraska) I went over tried to turn it on, got monitor hum but nothing else..... Well, time to contact the owner. I found his number, called him up, he said that it didn't work but I told him I was still interested. He met me there that night. I offered him $100. He was happy with that. We loaded it into my truck. Got her home, trouble shot for a while and found out the switching power supply was bad. Replaced it and now it's good to go. Needs a cap kit, as this Hantarex MTC900E monitor has not been touched since birth.

I felt it was worth a hundred bucks. It could have been worse, but with that monitor hum(powering on/working), I figured it was worth at least that.

I need to repaint and hopefully find some repo control panel art that I can replace the current one with(old and peeling bad).

Any tricks/problems I should know about these Hanatrex MTC900E monitors?

Also this was Cabinet #1100, the picture flash kind of bleeds it out.

Anyway, I'm happy. My kids love the game also, it's kind of hard but fun. I've been playing it most of the night, since I got it fixed. Which all this proves that it pays NOT to upgrade your cell phone and visit a laundry mat instead. You never know what may be lurking.

Here's some pics. Sorry if they are low quality. I'll try to take better ones in the day time.

And in case you are wondering, on those side art pics, the owner before me apparently thought it was a good idea to use "Blue Marker" to cover up the marks in the artwork, so now it looks worse than if you just left it alone with the scratches. Oh well.

good story, congrats! what a deal for $100 Circus Charlie is not too common. the sideart looks really good, I bet you can take off that black paint on the lower sides under the sideart and front with some citristrip or something else to bring it back. just don't get it on the sideart, the cpo I believe you can find a repo on mamemarquees not sure of the quality though. I wish I could find a deal like that in South Fl.

Great story- almost makes you wonder how many opportunities like that are missed or arrive from sheer luck?

Yea, I agree. I wasn't expecting anything in this laundro-mat, but a "Circus Charlie" of all things, I certainly wasn't expecting to be in this run down laundro-mat.

Just goes to show, if you don't look, you don't know.

Also, what is nice is that instead of smelling like cigarette smoke and booze. It smells like laundry soap instead. ;-)

Not a bad find at all. I've played the game but I'm not terribly good at it. Still $100 for an easy fix. Good deal.

Congrats, that's a great score. I would love to find me some Circus Charlie !

Seriously, how do you find the time to post on so many sites and do other things? Do you have clones?

I love the vid of your garage arcade too, looking good. :)

DON'T get the Mamemarquees control panel overlay. It looks fairly good on their website, and better than what you have, but it has issues that look like crap in person. I plan on doing the vectorization for that and the side art someday soon.

Just paint the bottom white and the front a sky blue (to match the blue in the CPO). I'm doing a Gyruss-to-Circus Charlie conversion and may need some photo or measurements if you can help. Just let me know if you decide to get rid of it before then.

And start practicing. Here's my high score to date:

What a wonderful score! Congrats!!!!! Doesn't look toooo bad.

This game is on my list of games to own some day. My kids and I both really like it. It's a very challenging and fun game! Love the art too.

Question, does the game have a level select in the beginning or does it just automatically progress through the levels? Never understood what was up with the two versions. Anyone know?
