I have a game that does absolutely nothing. I took the PS out and tested it in another machine and it works fine but it still will not power up.Would it be a faulty ground? The steel braided wire on the bottom of the cab is green from water damage other than that none of the other electronics are physically damaged. Damn I need some randy Fromm dvd's.

check for power, interlock switches???

Check for power at the boards and then work backwards. Is there a switch somethere? Is there a fuse somewhere? Are the interlocks working right?

If you start at the wall plug and work forward or start at the boards and work backwards, you should find the problem.

I have had several seemingly dead games work just fine after a faulty switch (2 times) or an interlock (1 time) were replaced.

There are three switches, back, front, and on top. There are four fuses ,below is a pic of the layout. The fuses look good visibly but I have no buzz feature on my meter to dead short test.

Are there any fuses in those holders? From that pic, it looks like the +5V and +12V run through fuses, and the fuse holders look empty. That's pretty odd to run the output of a switcher through fuses though... if that's actually what's happening, I'd rewire that.

BTW, what game is it?

Yes the wiring seemed incorrect to me and why would it need 4 fuses? Those round black things have one fuse each in them. The empty fuse holders are from me taking them out to check them again but during testing I did have all 4 installed.

From that picture I would start at the back of the power supply
and see if your getting voltage there, then at the fuse holders, then I would take the white plug apart and test for voltage there
that would be my first 3 steps
if your not getting anything from the power supply I would look at the filter in the top left of the photo, looks like ac from the wall goes there?

Oh! The game is contra

Were you testing with these fuses in place ?

Dont think you need the fuses anyway. It looks like one side of the fuse holders are hooked to the power supply and the other end the wires look like they are cut and go no where. Maybe it's just me.
Never mind my bad, I see it's a white molex connector not a cut wire

Well the transformer didn't fix the problem. I still have no power at all. Damn this is frustrating. You guys have any thoughts on this?

If your game is playing blind then you got one problem fixed. That's a good start.
Which monitor is in your game?
When you say the transformer didn't fix the problem, what transformer are you referring to? The one in the Ebay auction? or something from another game.
Do you have a volt meter?
A monitor isolation transformer usually has 4 terminals, 2 where 120 VAC goes in and 2 where 120 VAC comes out and goes into your monitor. Check the 2 wires going into it for 120 VAC if no voltage trace wires back to the fuse. If you have 120 VAC then test the other 2 wires going to the monitor. If no voltage their with voltage on the input side the transformer is bad. If you have 120 VAC and your monitor is dead,no neck glow then you have a monitor problem. The monitors have one or 2 fuses depending on which monitor you have but if they are blown then more that likely something in the monitor is shorted.
