Here is a photo I just found of my game room from the year I started collecting. If you can't tell it was Christmas time:D

Bought SI deluxe for $50 and Bump N Jump for $165

Dude, check out the Mountain Dew cans! So cool.

I had always hoped that I might be able to find the original owners of the arcade in my home town to see if they had any pics from inside their arcade. It'd be neat to take a walk down memory lane.

I should see if they're still around town....

Nice custom MTV sign... :)

1986? Lets see... I was.... 14.

EDIT: Durr... 1988... I was 16.

goodness, a TV with actual *knobs* that you turn by hand! that takes me back :).

what are the two games we can see the sides of in the pic?

The faux woodgrain storage cabinet for the VHS tapes is kickin'.

EDIT: the games are Bump N Jump and Space Invaders, I believe.

Wow, $50 for a SI deluxe in '88 had to be a pretty damn good deal, no?

Likely not, once they slowed on money intake, they sold them cheap to make room for new games. I bought 3 games back in the 80's and made some cash on them. $50 still sounds like a good deal. I remember walking into a vending warehouse and there was nothing video you couldn't buy for $125 (I still have my QBert from that place that I got for half price as it's power supply was shot (go figure)

that room is classic 80s. The custom Mtv thing is priceless. MTV was actually cool back then! Thanks for sharing!

I know a guy that started collecting not long after you and nobody cared about the games anymore so he would get truckloads for nothing and even threw away classics. Like any collectibles you have to wait 30 years for top dollar so Adults can relive their youth when they finally have money

Yeah, got it from "the Game Exchange" in Columbus OH. It wasn't as good a deal as I got from Shafer distributing of a $195 KISS pinball fully working. Oh how I miss those deals. I don't think I'll find another pin for under 200 working...
