Well finally got the bug again many years later (I used to run the Defender webpage about 10-15 years ago) and wanted another classic to add to my Defender. Found this machine in the local Kijiji and decided to "fix'er up".

Thankfully it is fully working at present and someone has already swapped out the power supply (which of course means I want to find the original ps and brackets!).

She's in rough shape but nothing too bad it can't be fixed. The most confusing part is the bottom... it has no casters/wheels. Now someone has already replaced the lower panel (and not painted it yet) so it's also possible someone replaced the bottom and could not source the wheels.... or Midway made some later cabinets without those wheels????

Most parts are already ordered so I'll update as I progress. List of items to do:

- Side Art & Kick Plate art (ordered)
- CPO Overlay (ordered)
- T-Molding (ordered)
- Coin door plate label replacement (ordered)
- Replacement buttons with proper colours (ordered)
- 25 cent coin door inserts/labels (Emailed the member here who made some)
- Monitor Bezel is flaking at bottom, will replace later
- Coin box missing
- rebuild bottom/rear plate
- build a new rear door to spec as it was missing
- fix top rear holes and replace the plate that is missing
- strip and sand/bondo entire cabinet
- paint with black satin
- rebuild coin door
- find old power supply & brackets

Here is a list of items I'm still trying to find, if anyone can help, please drop me a line:

- proper coin counter (mine is missing)
- vibration switch and lock assembly for coin door (again, missing)
- midway plate from top of rear between the carry handles
- cabinet casters/wheels from bottom (maybe get from an old dead Ms. Pacman cab)
- rear door dimensions for all the cutouts etc
- old power supply and brackets (pictures of them would also be good so I know what to find on ebay)
- copy/scan of operators sheet/instructions that used to be stabled inside the cabs
- pictures of original coin box and any lid etc from an original Galaga

(I'll post the rest of the pics in a sec, for some reason this forum only allows 5 per post).

Here is an interesting one that I've never seen before on any forums etc.

If you put the game into test mode and then hit the credit switch once, a string of numbers appears at the bottom:

It reads: 99, 8999, 0870, 9963, 1998.

Anyone know what they mean?

These are the gallaga measurements on my cab back door.
There are brackets that hold the mother board into the cage. The only uses of a filter board.
There a picture of the power supply and of the plastic kick plate on the bottom.

Good luck in your restore.

Sorry the pic is a Little fuzzy.
The size on the hole is 3/4 inch hole but it sits in a recess hole that is 1" 1/4 at a depth of 1/16.
The 4 vent holes do not have sharp corners. they are rounded Looks like a 1/4" round

Thanks Alpha! That helps for the door.

What is the board on top of the CPU/Video board? Looks like some sort of a filter board. Guess mine is missing that.

That explains some of the loose ground straps (or strap), it was for that item.

Do you have any pics of the inside of the coin door so I can get an idea on all the bits?

Cheers!
