My first world record that is actually within my grasp...POLARIS!!!

When I was in Denver at the Rocky Mountain Pinball Showdown & Gameroom Expo, on April 30th, I bought a new arcade game. It was a big coincidence too because I had planned to go to Denver the following week to buy this exact machine. Dan Gutchess (fellow KLOVer and runs classicarcaderesource.com), was at the event selling a couple games at a discounted price. I was stoked since I was going to get it anyways but now I get it at 20% off. The game is Polaris. It's a lot like Space Invaders but you are a submarine instead of a spaceship. Here's a picture of my new toy...

I have been playing this game everyday since I got it. Two days ago, I finally broke 10,000 points. Today, I decided to pull up a barstool and have at it for a while. My best game I managed 22,950 points. I thought that wasn't half bad so I logged onto Twin Galaxies to see what I would need to beat. Apperently there are two high scores listed and both of them were achieved in 1983. #1 is a high score of 38,120 points and #2 is a high score of 25,700 points. I know that if I keep up my progress I can have this game licked by the end of the month. Now I just need a dang video camera and tripod!!!

congrats! hope you get the record for it. now, with all the pinballshowdown's rules in mind, did they make you wait to actually take it until the end of the show?

Nope. As soon as I paid for it he got a dolly and loaded it into my truck. I was lucky too...as I was paying Dan a couple of other people had come over to discuss purchasing the game.

Good luck!!

Also good like to kjeffery. The Eagle score Jimmy Linderman put up at Funspot last year was all kinds of sick and crushed the old one. I saw his game and it was something else. Very very tough game.

Awesome, man. Go for the gold!

Question: is the speaker at the bottom after-market? So many of Taito's first cabarets with the separate cash box seem to have had the original speaker kicked in...

Both of my Taito Trimline's had the speaker grills kicked in so that it an aftermarket cover. I plan to change it. I put a black metal repro cover like the ones used for Ms Pac-Man and it looks much nicer so I am going to get another one for my Polaris. Speakers located next to angry people's primary stress releasers are bad ideas.

My cab needs new black textured vinyl on the top and I am going to put in a white black light tube and corner protectors. Then the machine will be amazing, just like the Space Invaders trimline next to it.
