I am happy to announce that I got my first UK 45/7" of my life in the mail today, and was so psyched. It's IT'S MY LIFE by Talk Talk, 1984. The song was redone by No Doubt, but it's always been a fave of mine because not only is it an 80s tune, but it also has some great synthesizer in it (I play keyboard and piano).
When the record came, I was prepared to have to cut a hole in the middle (since UK record players use the little nub to hold their 45s in place like our albums did, NOT a huge hole like our 45s). But when I pulled the record out, it had a thin line going around the little nub hole with a "punch out" section that could simply be popped out for U.S. use as well. I was like OH HELL YEA!, popped out the mo-bob, dropped it in the juke, and we were on our way back to 1984! My wife didn't know the name of the song or the group, but immediately recognized the song (she is the same age as me and knows all the songs I do).
What a wonderful day for me and my 80's 45s collection!
