Well I got a G07 I need to restore, it functions but the tube has major burn in that is very noticeable while off and I'd like to fix that. Or I tried to be exact.....

Can't figure out how these colors are so bizarre.......

The yoke seems pretty lined up and all. I played with the adjustments like color, contrast, and size. Fiddled with the convergence for the longest but I still can't quite get this thing right. Any ideas for those of who played with swapping tubes?

Here is a pic of the old one.....well the tube type

Here is the pic of the newish tube I had lying around....

The neck pins where exactly the same.....unless I'm wrong and something is crossed....

Looks actually pretty good, convergence wise. But your purity is way off. Start with purity, then do convergence. You'll drive yourself nuts if you don't. Purity is the ability for the red gun in the tube to hit only the red phosphor, blue gun to only hit blue phosphor, etc. Display solid colored screens and adjust as necessary. Be sure the tube is degaussed before beginning, otherwise, you'll never get it right...

How does one go about configuring the color purity, the yoke right? Lol I tried fiddling with the 2 wedges iut had.......

On a sidenote.....i need a manual degaussing wand......saw one at Fry's, may stop by there today.

The two rings closest to the yoke control the purity. Also, the actual position of the yoke on the tube has affect. I'm assuming that you kept the rings with the tube, marked them, and are putting them back where they were initially - I usually find that sliding the whole ring assembly around until the purity is right is a good way to get them back in the right spot.

A manual degaussing coil is very handy - of course, the monitor degausses itself every time it's turned on from being cold, but the handheld one is a great tool to have. You can buy one, or you can make one. I just use the degaussing coil from a junked 27" television set, coiled up smaller.

I had some breakthrough with the color purity adjustment, although I'm having more of a pain with convergence than before.....think because of the location of the rings and all.

Don't have pictures at the moment because my camera battery was dead.......
