I just picked up a Pepsi vending machine today from CL for $70. Got it home and plugged it in, lights up and starting to get cool (gonna wait and see if it gets cold). It looks to be a Dixie Narco, model number DNCB 276M/162-6 PE2369. This is my first vending machine, and I need to know what all I should do/check/replace before putting it into service.

Also, should I look for a manual, and how well these things do outside in 2 foot of snow (maybe I should put it inside the garage for the winter?).

I've been searching through the older posts, and I think I've got everything figured out. I've choosen my drinks, printed labels, and adjusted the price down. The only thing that concerns me, is that I have the compressor set on the lowest setting, and it still cools down close to 32 degrees. I checked and made sure I am adjusting it correctly. Is this common? Or could a sensor be off?

Does anyone keep their machine outside? I know they are in service outside here all year, but is there a danger of the cans exploding from freezing?

Does the compressor ever shut off??? It shouldn't get that cold on the lowest setting. It sounds like the thermostat could be bad. Soda will freeze and the cans will explode...it's makes a big mess.

The compressor seems to run a lot, but does shut off occasionally. Seems to me to be about 50/50. I turned the dial to off, then turned it just enough to hear the compressor kick in. The thermometer stays at about 33-35 degrees. The thermometer was inside the machine when I bought it. May be that it's defective, I'll try another one.
