My First Restoration Thread: Vs. Unisystem (The Goonies)

That's really nice work!

On the coin mech's, did you just procure new fronts for them or did you replace everything?

I'm asking because I have 2 set's of mech's and it seems silly to throw them out, is there a way to make the front look fresh again?

Thanks :)

I bought new stock original Asahi Seiko face plates and parts. Surprisingly, Asahi Seiko replacements parts are quite affordable. Even better, they still make the same model type as the originals!

Here's an old thread where I posted about getting the new parts through Asahi Seiko USA based in Las Vegas. Michael Sparto is the sales rep and he's really helpful. However, they initiated a new policy mid last year where you have to make a minimum $50 order to create a new account.

Thanks for the info, I don't think I'll buy new, maybe I'll look at spraying a new finish on and see how that goes on one set. :)

Spraying can work to create a nice finish. The only downside is that it is not as durable as an original finish. If you plan on using quarters or tokens at all, you can say goodbye to that nice finish. I'm sure you'll be fine either way though.
