my first post...and my first project HELLO!

Judging from the holes, I should be able to make this a four player game

I'm having a hard time being able to tell from the pic - is the neck of the tube broken or what's going on there? Something looks a little funky.

Your cab is a Data East cab, similar to the one here for Ghostbusters. I'm not sure what other games came in that style, but Wrestlefest was not one of them.

Can't tell from the picture either if the neck is broken or if the neckboard just came off...

Damn I'd love that RGB cabinet for my 3 player row:

the neck of the tube def looks broken. So its not a four player cabinet? What do you all recommend? Restore as is? Get a new cabinet? any ideas?

get a better picture of the end of the tube for us if you can, i can't 100% tell from your picture, maybe just a few bent pins but i don't really see the broken tube. (i'm no tube guru tho).

It's gunna have to wait for a sunny day. the game is literally BARELY in the garage so the only way to get a good pic is with the door up lol

So the tube part aside...what do you guys recommend as a course of action? Right now I'm thinking just get it up and running, then eventually restore it to a 4 player system. Any ideas?

Hello guys!
So this being my first post AND my first restoration, I figured I'd take a minute to introduce myself before talking about my.....fixerupper (putting it nicely lol).

I'm Justin, I'm 20 and I live in Northern Michigan. I am a full time student, but I make my money in the professional wrestling industry. I live with my lovely parental units (as most college students would lol) and have a decent life...until this darn machine came along lol. I have little actual experience in this field (I played an arcade game once lol) so I hope to make some friends and hopefully learn a bit.

I saw an ad for a WWF Wrestle Fest on Craigslist and picked it up...figured since it was less than 200 it would be worth a shot, atleast I could fix it up....what a pile lol

No pix yet (it's in the garage with bad lighting lol), but let me tell you...whoever built this was a (insert your own explicative lol) moron. They did use a 4 controller jamma case...but for some reason they only wired it for 2 controllers and plugged up the others...the buttons..aren't even the same on each side lol The only thing this game has going for it is it runs (well...it did).

So heres my problem...somehow in moving it...now I dont have technical terms or pix right this second so I will have to describe it...the connector that links the game to the monitor popped off. Like the back of the monitor has these prongs sticking out in a circle that plug into another circle, that popped off...only problem...for the life of me I cant get them to go back together....I'm terrified I'm going to make the problems worse.

It was running fine before we loaded it up, so I'm 99% sure that's the only technical problem with it. I'm going to drill the back lock out sometime this week (we just moved so I have to get the tools out of storeage), but I can still access this part of the monitor through a hole...any help would be greatly appreciated guys...I'm terrified I may have just trashed 150 bucks.

I hope we all get to have some thrilling conversations on this topic lol plenty of pix will be coming as soon as it stops raining and I can open the garage up lol

Thanks for having me!

I was totally thinking you were Rated-R Justin the wrestler from the bachlorette!

Looks like you've got a converted cab. Here is what it should look like...

http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=10388

Also .. looks like the previous owner cut that hole in the back to accomodate the larger monitor.. basically its a hack job. I'd keep the guts and look for a bigger cab to put the game in.. preferably a cab that has a working monitor. Also .. put your location on your profile..you might have fellow KLOVrs nearby that could help you.

dang, I knew I overpaid on this...*insert explicative*

Don't worry about it.. you can still make a working game..plus you can make it better and you'll end up learning a lot about the hobby and how to work on these things.

I have made even bigger mistakes.

Right now, assuming the monitor can work (need to drill out the lock to see) I'm just gunna get it to a stable working state. When I have the cash I'll start doing a restore.

well if the neck board will go back on you should be ok

I'm also tempted to do a custom restore, rather than a 100% accurate one. I mean I'm never gonna get rid of this one (well, not by my choice) so I think I should make it very "me"

Yeah.. that's the spirit. You can take this turd and polish it into something respectable. The only problem is that the control panel is not quite big enough for four players. From your description it sounds like the harness in the game is a 4 player one... so if you are good with wood..you can make a custom control panel and add the other joysticks and buttons. Also..that hole in the back is not safe.. so you need to find a solution for that as well.

Figured Id just replace the entire back panel. it shouldn't be that hard its a flat piece of wood. I tried playing with that damn connector, the issue is i need to drill the lock off so I can get into it to get all the prongs aligned. The ones in the front are connecting fine, but the ones in the back aren't making a good connection. They ARE there, but they arent alligned perfectly so the fronts are ok, it just needs adjusting.

Also That80sguy, do you have Yahoo IM? I added you lol

you can't replace it with another flat peice in the back... the monitor will not fit.. you will break it. Its too big for that cab. Next time I log onto yahoo I'll add you. no prob
