Last weekend I picked up my first pin, Gold Wings. I picked it up for a good price. It needs some minor work but I am happy with it. Now, to start cleaning it up and replace the one bad solenoid.

Cool game, and it has a spinner! ;^) Always good to start with a pin that "needs some work"; you learn a lot and get to know it much better.

Congrats, and welcome to the sickness.

+1 to getting the fixer. You will be able to trouble shoot your own machine, and learn about it. Saves money in the long run

Uh-oh. Now that you've bought one, you'll simply have to have more.

In other words, you're definitely on the highway to the danger zone now. ;)

Congratulations!

I just picked up a gold wings last weekend myself, well rzgrip wanted rid of it so bad he even delivered it lol.It was a basket case as in most of the playfield was in a box.I got it all back together and working 98%.
I wish i could have the topper on mine,i have it,but ceilings are too low.So i had to remove it.I had the machine in test mode and the siren went off and i panicked as the girlfriend was freakin out, though i could not hear her freaking out,i could tell she was by her fancy moves, either dancing or flippin out lol.in my panic and being unfamiliar with the test mode i was hitting all the wrong buttons and kept restarting the test, finally i just shut it off.To keep the peace i'm going to try to muffle the siren some.
Does your loop ramp in the back left corner work good,i rate mine at 98% as i maybe make it through the look 1 out of 5 times.I'm thinking it needs some adjusting as the shots look clean, the ball just doesn't make it.
Enjoy your new pin and yes, welcome to the madness.

I so far I have put new rubber on it and replaced all the bad bulbs. I will be cleaning the playfield tomorrow and installing the solenoid. All of my arcade games were fixer-uppers so I learned to keep them running and hope to do the same to the pin.

Right now I just loosen up the fuse on the siren. That way is does not go off and I can keep the peace with my wife.

As for my ramp, it has a hole in it right at the start of the ramp. I have taped it up but need to buy a new ramp on payday.

I just put duct tape around the outside vents on the siren so it can't take in as much air as it would like. That was pretty good, but i then added a piece across the front and that did the trick. It still goes off but is much much more acceptable now.
Good luck with that loop ramp.
