Well, I have to say that I didn't think I was going to be able to buy anything this year, but I ended up finding a deal in my price range.

I listed my Atari Football on cl recently, and I got a reply asking if I ever buy games. I figured it was probably a scam, but I replied back anyway. He said he had a Millipede in his thrift store that he needed out of there. It was a "I was told it was just a blown fuse" story.

Turns out the person who thought it was a fuse never tried to flip the switch. :)
I turned it on and it fired right up. I need a trackball rebuild, marquee, cpo, and coin door, and this might just be my nicest game.

In the email, he also mentioned that there was a pinball he wanted to show me. He didn't know anything about it. I was a little disappointed when I saw that it was a Home Version Fireball. It was just sitting there filthy with no legs. I got it home, plugged it in, and it worked. I finally figured out how to get the glass off (weird with no coin door), and opened it up to find the legs. :)

The little pin is kinda cool, not terribly exciting, but cool. It needs a lot of cleaning, but I am still surprised that it actually worked!

The best part is that I got them both for $50. I have been hearing about a lot of crazy deals here lately, and it is nice to finally have one for myself. Now I need to save up for the Multipede board, and I will be a happy camper.

Congrats! What a great deal (steal?) for $50! And they both worked, thats an added bonus. The multipede board is great, I have one in my Millipede, I got lucky and picked it up off of ebay for $60 a couple of years ago.

I really like the looks of the Millipede cab, but I don't think I ever played the game. I am a fan of Centipede though, so I can't wait to try it. Every time I saw a Millipede when I was a kid, I thought it was either broken or a bad bootleg because of the blue boxes on the screen. I never wanted to risk a quarter in it. :)

Nice! I asked about that Millipede and they told me to pound sand. Well, not really, but you defeated my CL ninja skills. Great score!

I see the beginning of a GARCADE in those pics :D Congrats!

It is definitely a different garage now. Six months ago, I had 14 games out there, most driving games that I rarely played. After a brutal bill paying sell off, I think I am actually happier with the game selection now. My little garcade has one serious flaw: I am usually the only one out there. Super Offroad and Super Sprint are great multiplayer games, but not so much fun solo.

The current lineup is much more playable for me. DK, Tempest, Paperboy, and now Millipede. I still have to get rid of Altered Beast and Atari Football. I may keep Pole Position if I ever get it running. My girlfriend's DK3 will hopefully end up being the only game I don't play that stays out there.

OK, I realize that I am probably the only old fart around who has never played Millipede. I think every one I ever saw was in test mode or something, because I never expected the game to actually look like Centipede. This game is just pure fun! from the few games I have played today, it is everything Centipede was with great extras. Way more engaging than centipede. After this first impression, I am not even sure I want to spend the money on the Multipede kit. I will have to play centi on the MAME cab to see.

I am shocked that I missed this gem for 28 years. Definitely a welcome addition to my arcade.

BTW, it is amazing how much better a monitor looks after cleaning off 28 years of grime. :) There is a little burn in, but there is no way to see it through that really dark glass.

I really need to do some homework before class. :(
