Grabbed a PP last night. It' a pile of shizzle.

Question: In the last pic I circled a connector, any idea what it's suppose to go to?

Thanks

Hard to see, but looks like the video cable is unplugged from the monitor chassis. I can see the anode is unplugged, hope you didnt fire this up yet.

My Pole Position also has that connector you circled unplugged. I believe it is sync wiring for using a different monitor besides the Matsushita. As already stated, your flyback is not hooked to the picture tube so you have to attach that before you power it up.

I got my first non-working game too

I got my first non-working game too. Defender cabinet with the boards missing. My question is: Spend the money to make it a JROK MultiWilliams or a dedicated machine. Both will run about the same price. But if I ever have to sell either version, neither will be fitch what I put into them. Almost would have been better off buying a working game instead since the prices are taking a nose-dive compared to the parts/boards. Some games are selling less than the boards and marquee alone are worth. UGH!!!

.

Don't you have to buy the original boards to plug the jrok multi into? In which case I'd restore it cosmetically to a dedicated Defender with the multi in it.

Maybe he hasn't replied because he turned it on then touched that black wire....

I don't think so. The Jrok board replaces the Defender board. I also believe he would need a converter for the edge connector. Not 100% sure though.

No I haven't fired it up yet because I'm missing the pcb interconnect (A local guy saved me and is mailing it).

I also need to clean the crap out of this thing. Mouse shit galore.

Thanks for letting me know about the other cable, I didn't see that!!! (smacking head against table)

Once I get the part and give it a good "once over" I will fire it up to see what else is wrong. I did notice the edge connector is fried. Looks like someone attempted to fix it. We will see.

I know it's going to take a couple hundred to fix up, but this is a keeper for me so it's worth it.

Have I mentioned I have no idea what I'm doing :)

If you think that's a pile of shiz you should have a look at a Jamma cab I picked up a few days ago. Now that thing is rough. I was thinking about parting it out and trashing the cab, but even with all the nicks that thing is more solid than other better looking cabs I've run across.

I have to admit I hadn't gone through it with any type of light until a few minutes ago. I just realized how much damage the mice have done.

Looks like they pissed all over the monitor board.

I'm too scared to fire this thing up. I believe it will be completely engulfed in flames within seconds :)

Anyone have a monitor they want to sell?

That sucks about the damage from the mice. I've seen it too many times. :(

Some would say it's just as well to replace the monitor anyway being that it's the original Matsushita. Personally I have been able to resurrect the one in my Pole Position, but not without some work. My understanding is the picture tubes aren't that great and in my case I had to use my rejuvenator to bring 2 of the 3 electron guns back to life.

Jay where are you from in Washingtion?

PP

Check the r29 resistors on the AR boards. If the Main PCB edge connector is burned those resistors will be as well. If your Game PCB has good edge pads on it still, I have a couple of nice PP harnesses for sale. If they are burnt. You can break the 5v out of the harness and solder it directly to the test points on the board to bypass the burnt edge connector. Pur molexes in between of course.

I have read and seen pics of the procedure. For me to perform something like that I would need explicit instructions and plenty of pics. I'm a visual learner and a complete dumbass.

I won't able to test anything until the interconnect comes in the mail. If the thing doesn't catch fire, Then I can go from there :)

While I wait, I'm going to do a simple tear down to clean the mouse cookies up.

I appreciate the replies and help from everyone.

Just went out and check the boards.

There are only 2 R29's right??? 1 on the cpu board and 1 on the video board.

They are not burnt. The edge connector on the the video board is the one that is burnt and looks like it was repaired.

I did notice on the bottom of one of the chips looked pretty nasty. Dark goopy kinda stuff on the solders. It stood out from the rest.

I will take pics tomorrow.
