So now I own an Arkanoid - it's my first machine - pretty exciting!

See attached images below but I found a Destron/GDI sticker on the coin box inside - I think this was formerly a Slither machine.

Not a huge Arkanoid fan (though having a lot of fun with it) I think this is a good candidate for a 60 in 1 - I ordered this from highscoresaves.com:

60 IN 1 CLASSIC ARCADE JAMMA MULTIGAME MULTICADE KITJAMMA PCB ARCADE GAME CONVERSION KIT

I know I have a lot of cleaning to do but feel free to take a look at the pics, any thoughts/advice is more than welcome.

It's hard to know where to begin but here are some things I see/questions I have:

1. I do not have a key(s) for the locks on the coin door and the back panel - back panel was able to come off with a screwdriver.

2. Toggle power switch on the top? Is this normal for arcade machines or was this added after the fact?

3. The sides are cover with a textured vinyl(?) that has been spray painted - there are a few big dings - I would love to repaint this cabinet at some point - will I have to tear off all of that covering - and, simple ideas to touch in up in the short term?

4. Marquee needs a light

5. Coin reject buttons are worn and I think need bulbs as well

6. CP is filthy and needs to be disassembled and cleaned

7. That AC power cable needs to be fixed and replaced with a three prong grounded plug

Just kind of thinking out loud here - so great to have a machine - any thoughts/suggestions are welcome - thought this was a good machine to get my feet wet and learn a few things about repair/refurbishment.

Cheers!

Congrats on your first game.

That does indeed appear to be a Slither.

A lot of work to restore it but done right you'll have a $2000+ game.

Yep, was just looking to see what one of those would cost - I personally know very little about Slither - might be cool though :)

That really needs to be a Slither again. If you don't want to do it, get it in the hands of someone who will. Making that into another 60-1 would be a travesty.

I'm sure there is a person that would give you another game that would be a great candidate for a 60-1, or possibly the nicest completed 60-1 you have ever seen.

Slither is rare and deserves to be brought back. Please no 60-1, Arkanoid was bad enough. Someone needs to free this game from conversion hell :)

Just for the record: total noob here: is that white, plastic set screw on the PCB the volume control? Be gentle - learning :)

I'm open to offers - just PM me - not sure if I have the passion for Slither to see through a restoration but am willing to help someone who is. Totally understand why it is special.
