My first Grail acquisition... It's so tiny!

We go to Alaska every other summer for a fly-fishing trip and spend 11 days driving around from river to river in a motorhome. One of the towns, Soldotna, has a mini Neo Geo in a Dairy Queen and I'm always happy to see it each time we go up there. It's been there for at least 10 years now and I put a few quarters in every time we're there.

SWEET!!!

I pulled the chassis and checked the back. Had a few bad solder joints. Looks like the op may have attempted a cap kit, but burned some of the traces... so it's a ghetto fix with a few wires, but it WORKS!

Super stoaked... now all I need is a power supply (I'm running it off a PC power supply right now)

Not the best picture... but I couldn't get the timing right with a good image on screen... the colors pop and are nice and bright. Once my wife gets home, I will further adjust the image so it isn't as blury.

This is the first time I have done any work on a monitor.

Very cool! I wouldn't mind getting one of those one day. I once saw about 3 of them at a Super Auctions and regret missing out on getting one.

Congrats! Nice pick up! I'd love to find one of those little guys but they don't seem to be very common.

Last time I saw one was at Disneyland's Starcade earlier this year.

Yeah, I remember you posting about that. I saw it and it and made me jealous, even though it wasn't yours.

Do you happen to recall which games are in it? Can't really tell from the photo

I think it was Bust-a-Move and Metal Slug. Not entirely sure. I wish it was mine though and I would put the correct marquee. :)

I had a mini Neo too . I put a brand new WG in mine , the picture was amazing . Sold it for $650 .

Its cool for one player . but if you wanna play two player fighters , its too small , get a dedicated 4 slot .

It's a great pickup... if you are petite or have kids.... for you? I don't see the long term draw of this. I would imagine you being much more comfortable in a full 4 slot. I love both of mine and actually sometimes even find them a little cramped on the CP for a 25" setup, about the same width of other 19" cabs so I can't see you playing the mini with another person.

They are super cute machines however...

So... here is my question. Anyone else here have one?

I've got one in my gameroom....it is cool machine. It's a neat looking cabinet, because it's so small. I remember seeing one for the first time in Las Vegas. I think the Riviera had an arcade and it was in it.

Dude, If Leonardo Da Vinci were still alive and painting, this would be the next Mona Lisa.

Yeah I totally agree . Thats why I sold mine because while it is super cool and the neo games look amazing like cartoons on the small monitor , playing two players was way uncomfortable , pretty much impossible .

But because it is so small , you can put it pretty much anywhere , like a corner of your bedroom and play 1 player . I had tons of fun playing the mini I had !

I may end up getting a larger machine in the future, but I will still keep this one.

It looks so cool. Plus, most of my friends don't play fighters or anything, so I don't have to worry too much about multi player. The only friend I have who can kick my ass at fighting games is really hard to get a hold of, and works a lot. Most of them would rather play Halo or Call of Duty.

You only need the bigger cab for 2 player fighters . If you play 1 player the mini is great .

What games you putting in there ? And where you putting the cab ?

The cool thing about the mini is the weird places you can put it , where normal cabs wouldn't fit .

Heres the one I had .

Right now I'm going to stick Samurai Showdown and either Fatal Fury or Crossed Swords.

Once I can swing a few more games, I'll stick Bust-A-Move and Metal Slug in it. Of course, I will rotate which games I put in it. Gotta go back to Samurai Showdown.

I want a cheap Pulstar or Blazing Star. I've not played either yet, and would really like to.

As for where to put it... Since my arcade is only about 9x9 it's the perfect size. Although I've contemted putting it in my console room. It's small, and would be sweet to have an arcade in that room (it's probably about the same size room)
