I picked up my first freebee today. Got it from Roy 'Bottlejunkie'. It's a 10 yard Fight. Everything is there except side-art. Working status is unkown (he picked it up that way). I have almost completely gutted it (will finish tomorrow). Once gutted I will clean the inside of the cabinet and all the components. Then I will re-install them properly and see what works and what doesn't. Pictures to come....

A huge shout out to Roy! Thanks buddy! I owe you one! (Don't know why I just shouted all of those statement, but ya thanks)

hope it works out well, although i know you want it to be difficult for more practice.

your welcome

roy

by the way even though i gave it to ya, pics or it didnt happen.

Pictures of the cabinet during deconstruction and cleaning mode. I will post the end result.

10-Yard Fight gets very little love here, probably because it was a conversion package for so many great Taito games. But I think it's fun, and it was a big part of the arcade scene when I was a kid. It should definitely have a place in the "Games you see less and less" thread.

Good look with your resto!

Is that what the cabinet used to be?

Look at the burn-in on your monitor. Keep in mind that the monitor might've come from another Taito machine, though (more likely it didn't, but...)

At first I didn't see it under all of the 10 yard fight burn-on, but now I do. It's along the right hand edge of the horizontally mounted monitor (would have been top on the Qix machine.)

It is a Taito and there is Qix burn on the monitor. The control panel might be from an ELevator Action or something else. It isn't a Qix panel due to layout, and not sure what game had that blue on the CP.

This is inside the cabinet. I thought it might help to identify the original cabinet.
Also, if you notice on the back of the CP there is pookie covering up an existing hole.

I don't think the heatsink and transformers are unique to one particular game. Pretty sure my Qix has the same think connecting to the power supply board. Yours is missing. It mounts to the metal tray next to that large transformer. Here is what the one from my Qix looks like.

I'm going to have to look at the other Taito titles to see if any have that blue on the CPO.

Here are some more pictures to help identify this cabinet.

This is glued to the back door.

Also, just an update, I finished de-construction and cleaning of the cab and components. I saw some obvious things wrong with the chassis, which are all fixable. I hooked everything properly this time (2 hours of ohming out 30 years of shotty wiring). After I had everything how I wanted it I streched the video signal wire from the 10 Yard Fight cab to my PC10's chassis. I turned on both games and crossed my fingers, and.........vola! I got game baby! All I need to do is fix the chassis and it's a done deal. I will post "after" pictures and pictures of my success.
