Got my first EM pin. Also my first FREE pin. Its a bally el toro, not the most desirable game, but free is free. So I can turn it on and hit the left flipper and the lights come on. Then nothing. Manualy moving some credits on the machine and hitting the start button does nothing.

If i manually move the "index resent motor cam" it will kick in its motor and turn itself around. Then I can touch the switches and it will count the score and the solenoids will work but it doesn't seem like any logic is working. For example if I drain the ball it wont kick out a new one or reset the score or anything like that. I dont think there is really any logic running.

Anyone have any idea what to do? Thanks guys.

Before chasing specifics, I would clean every switch and contact in the machine. I know that sounds like it's not very fun, but it's a big deal with these older EM games. 90% of issues on these games are just dirty or poorly adjusted contacts.

Like Ken said pinballrepair.com First thing anybody who gets an EM pinball should do is read that site and clean and adjust every switch. No magic answer for your problem. It could be several different things causing the problem. A couple things to pay close attention to for what your describing are the reset relay and the hold relay. also check that when you add credits that the credit unit switches are adjusted and working properly.

If you transported it upright it could be as simple as the tilt switches. Specifically the ball track. Check your tilts. Then check connection on your start button. Start basic and move up. As far as cleaning all the contacts, that is a big job, i would fix the problem first. When cleaning contacts be sure to use a flexstone file. Do not bend anything while you are there.

After a few adjustments and a TON of cleaning i put it all back together (for the second time). Turned it on and pressed the start button..... and it WORKED! I was so excited when something happened when I pressed that button I actually yelled. Thank you for the tips guys.

Now my only question is when the score motor stops in "home" position there is a solenoid that goes NUTS on the coin door. I assume this is a mis adjusted switch I have missed, but I cant really see it down in the bottom there and I am worried about connector wear with pulling it all back out to work on it. If i unwire that solenoid would that hurt anything? Im not even sure what it is supposed to do? Clear coins maybe?

EM's like to be played. Once they sit and sit, they get dirty and things stop working.
