Picked this up from Grbgemen. It is in amazingly great condition. The playfield is like glass. I only need to put rubbers on it. I took tomorrow off from work to tear it down and put rubbers on it. Just installed a new soccer ball this evening and there really is nothing else that needs replacement. There are a few wires heading to GI in the back that are not connected correctly. Grbgemen had done the swap of the GI header pins and connectors and a few others. Something is wonky with that Gi, but I will get it.

My most current game was BOP until this one. I wanted something a bit fancier after selling off the Alien Poker and asked Grbgemen if he had anything for sale. He mentioned WCS 94, and I was interested. I had played it at Old Chicago about 8 years ago a bunch. I actually did not remember it was a Bally machine, and was happy to find that out. Started searching this forum and RGP for threads with WCS 94. It seems to be a very well respected pin. It took a couple payments to get it home, but Oh emM Geee this game is fricking awesome. I played the game so many times in visual pinball to learn it well. On my second game after picking it up, I got to battle Germany and experienced 5 ball multiball. All the shots and ramps. 3 ball multiball. A pretty decent ruleset, but most of all my fave is that there is so much going on all the time that it is just exciting to play all the time.

I pulled some 555 not too powerful frosted LEDs and put them in a bunch of places. The difference in color on the city inserts is night and day. With the cool LED they are purple, but with an incandescent they are red. I was shocked at the difference.

One quick question for folks who have one. Which way does the ball spin for you most of the time? Mine spins CCW, but I swear I have seen it go CW before. From searching it seems it normally goes CW, but when you do the final game it will spin CCW to make it more difficult. Grbgemen had replaced the ball motor and it looks like everything is connected correctly. In VP it only spun CW so I am wondering.

Thanks again Grbgemen. I am happy as crap with this machine.

First thing's first. AWESOME GAME. I love mine to death.

Now, I think that the ball usually spins counter clockwise. I say that because, I know when my ball comes out of the roll overs, and into the pops, that the ball will sort of dance against the ball for a bit sometimes because of the counter spin. The ball can and will spin both ways, but during game play, always counter clockwise.

I feel the game is very pretty. I also love the hell out of the theme. I will say this about yours (totally fixable): was the person that put in the LEDs on your machine color blind? FIX THAT, it's terrible looking. LEDs are awesome, but the colors are all over the place. ;)

heh

There were a lot of bulbs out and I used some really weak LEDs I was using in the backbox from my BOP just so I could play with it a bit. If I do LED it, I will do it right. These are only temp.

It was some of your posts about WCS 94 that made me sure I wanted to pick it up. Thanks

Good to know about the ball spin. The connections to the motor seemed correct and the positive had a red mark. So I doubted it was installed wrong. It was the VP table I played before I picked it up that spun CW and made me wonder.

The new ball works darn good. I had cleaned the other to get it a bit sticky, but the new one puts some great spin on the ball.

I thought about getting one of these too. Where did you get a new ball? Is anyone selling them again? I kind of like the purple/blue on the city inserts. Would have to see it with all the other light to see if it looked good or not. Each to their own when it comes to leds. Nice pick up!

WCS94 is a great machine designed by John Popadiuk. We picked one up a while back for my father in law.

If I recall, The ball on his spins CW, but I can check on Sunday when we're there if you need me to. He loves the game, and ironically, he too has a Bride of Pinbot :)

+1 on where did you get the replacement ball. His is pretty beat.

Thanks,
Chris

Congrats on the first DMD and WCS94 was my second DMD pin which I sold this past April. My ball spun CW and never saw it spin CCW.

Wanted to say congrats on your new pickup. WCS94 is bar none one of the best bang for the buck machines out there. My ball also ONLY goes CW. I would suggest that either a more subtle set of LEDs are used in the GI or stick with incandescents. I do honestly believe it's easier for a person whom is NOT familiar with the game to accept LEDs VS a person that is familiar with the games original look.

The soccer ball edge will get dirty fairly quick. Keep it wiped off with what ever you use for cleaning rubbers. The rubber tends to harden up fairly quick on those soccer balls.

Thanks for the ball info!

It is the reproduction one so the slot in the ball that sits over the square post is not as deep, but it seems to work fine for me. I noticed it is grabbing a bit more and putting one hell of a spin on the ball.

So I have never had a pin with optos. I tried looking up what fliptronics are about, but had very little luck. Was not until way late in the first evening messing with the game that I noticed the boards on the cabinet for the flipper buttons. Holy cow. Mwahahahahahha that is flippin awesome

My dream pin is a AFm, but I am actually pretty much just as happy with this one. It is such a fast playing pin with tons going on. I am finally at peace (well for a month or so ;) )

I was playing late into the evening and was hoping to get to the final game against germany and see if the ball went CW, but got so wrapped up in the game I completely forgot to look. I think it would make sense for the ball to spin CW so it will throw it into the goal or into the not used enough pop bumper areas. Do you think just reversing the wires on the motor would make it spin the other direction? IPDB says that the ball spins in both directions.

The LEDs I put in there are total crap. Low power and add a blue tint which really messes with the colors. I was just playing around to see what they looked like. i will see what I think about putting LEDs in it later on. My other pins have them all under plastic and I like that. Not sure about GI via LED. I guess they have come a long way recently, but it just seems kinda wrong.

After a rocking game where I Beat Germany in the final game I witnesed the ball spin CW during that round. I would think that it would reverse direction and spin CCW during the final round to make it more difficult, but normally spin CW to aid in goals and get you into the pop bumpers during usual play.

I decided to just go for it and swapped the wires on the motor. It is now going CW during normal play and I bet it goes CCW when you get to the final round.

Rocked some polish and got the playfield insane, waxed, replaced some slingshot rubbers, buffed my balls again, and now I am ready to score some goals. Holy F I love this game.

I just got my first DMD game...WCS94. Mine was HUO but normal playfield wear to clean up. Got the new rubbers and some shooter parts. I'm planning some cool powder coating to make it look even better.

Do you still have this pin? How did the LEDs turn out? Did the ball hold up?

What do you plan on powder coating? I would love to see the after pictures of it. I never contemplated doing that on mine.

I think I'm going to go with purple legs, rails and lock bar. Considered the gold ramp but then would have to do the coin flip to match. Don't think that would look as good.

The LEDs were some diff ones I had lying around. I have just left it that way though. I bet with some of the current fancy ones it would shine great.

The ball has held up very well. I do clean it often with window cleaner, novus 2, and then a good coat of wax. There is a bit of a ring of dirt on there, but it is in decent shape.

It is the most rewarding game for noobs. By far the most exciting to play game I have.
