I shared my generally good experience with installing Marble Madness System 1 side art a couple of weeks ago. I've now had great success replacing the control panel art on my Marble Madness. I wanted to share so others who haven't done it yet know that the first time can go well.

Here is my CP before

And my CP after

Now I need to install the track balls, switches, etc. I need to order new black bolts for the ultimate "fresh" look... I'll have to see where those are available.

Thanks again to KLOV/arcade-museum members.

There are a few more pictures on my web site of the CPO restore.

Thanks guys.

I got it from a fellow KLOVer a couple months ago. I kind of paid a premium, but that's what happens when they aren't generally available. I am happy with the transaction.

No, I didn't clear coat it... it is definitely shiny, but not as shiny as the pictures make it look.

I've got the whole thing back together... I'll post the results later today.

That looks sick! Very awesome job. I've never tried to replace CP art. Is there any secret to doing it and not getting air bubbles?

Thanks Guys.

MWC, I used the "metahugh" method. A YouTube search will show you his video. He doesn't show a control panel, but the concept is the same.

In general

1) Ensure the decal is positioned correctly and tightly secured around the middle/bottom or both (depending on size).
2) Remove the backing from the top (part that is not secured)
3) Connect that part of the decal
4) I used a bondo spreader to push the decal down and eliminate air bubbles
5) At this point you can remove whatever is securing the decal as the part you just connected will guide the reset
6) Start pulling off the remaining backing and as you pull off the backing, use the bondo spreader

It will make a lot more sense if you watch metahugh's video.
