I'll have to post pics when I have more time, but tonight I brought home a Sega Monaco GP cockpit that has some issues but does power up and shows the attract mode! It looks like the prior owner never had the back door off of it, because when I opened her up I found enough dust to make my own mummy, and there were peanut shells all over the place inside. The board fan was barely spinning from all of the crap on it, I'm really surprised this thing didn't go up in smoke!

The main issue with it is, the little mobob lever that the quarter hits to recognize a credit broke off (prior owner issue, not me!), and the 3 wires (white, black, and orange) that normally connect to it are hanging loose. I checked all 3 with my DMM briefly and they appear to be registering between .01 and .03 volts. I need to find out how to bypass them to see if the game will coin up. Something is telling me the temporary fix will require a paper clip and a schematic, but I will am putting the issue out here for the "experts" to chime in as well. :D The guy said the game played fine up until the coin lever piece came off so, I'm hoping it will be an easy fix! It also doesn't look like the game has a free play option so, so much for that idea. :(

I checked the fuses that I spotted in the back with my DMM and they are all good.

One part that it definitely needs is the smoked plexi for the back that reads "Monaco GP". Hopefully someone has one lying around.

Here's a shot of one (not my pic):

I wondered if that was going to show up here. Certainly a great deal!

Hehehe.. I couldn't resist it. I needed another non-working game like I needed a hole in the head but upon bringing it home last night, my daughter was already climbing in it pretending to play. So, I got my money's worth already. :D

It also had a penny inside the coin box from 1984................

Now somebody tell me how to fix it!!

I am so happy that you picked one up! I too have one sitting in my garage at the moment awaiting a new monitor. I read somewhere these took 14" monitors. Looks to me like a 19" needs to be installed.

Good luck with the cockpit! I am hoping to get mine downstairs in my arcade by the spring!

Wow no love for my newfound cockpit? I did shower today! :(

I'll get a picture for you of the coin switch wiring.
The three wires are all connected to the switch, there is a common wire, and the other two are NC and NO. I don't remember the wire colors off the top of my head... :D

I've got no "headlights" on mine and the pedal has issues... <sigh>
Feel free to PM me to remind me....

That would be great, thanks!

It looks like a tall monitor to me so I'm thinking it's a 19" also. I can try to figure out what's in it in the near future and let you know the specs.

The cabarets had the 14" monitor. At least that's what's in mine.
The cockpits had a bigger screen... I just played a cockpit version at Funspot the other week and the screen was bigger than my cabaret. I'd say a 19" at least.

On mine...The yellow wire was disconnected from my coin mech switch when I got the machine. I re-soldered it and still wouldn't coin up. Then I flipped #1 on the little circuit board dip switch to the "on" position...then it started working. I have since added a free play button.

Yeah I only had a few min to mess with it last night, but I read that there was some 1 and 2 coin dip switch somewhere. Since this is my first cockpit I'm fumbling around in it like Ray Charles in a 7-11..

OK, sorry for the delay.

COIN SWITCH CONNECTIONS:
White is common
Blue is NC
Red is NO

I'm glad you had me go look, just happened to meter the switch and I had a bad coin switch on mine.... Fixed! :D
