I was intrigued by the pictures of the TRON sign despite all of the drama so I ordered some EL (electroluminescent) wire from Thats Cool Wire. I took a recognizer jpeg off of Google images and cut out a stencil. I spray painted it on wood and then cut out holes to route the wire. I drilled smaller holes behind the EL wire paths to use small picture hanging wire to tie and secure the wire that I bent into shape. I had some extra wire left at the end of the project and instead of trim it I coiled it behind the sign to give it a backglow effect. Total cost was about $60. It's pretty amateurish but I just wanted to play around with the EL wire. Here it is in my gameroom:

My next project is to order one of Brett's TRON keychain signs and use the blue EL wire in the cutout of the sign to make a glowing keychain holder.

This EL wire stuff is pretty neat and if I had made a bigger sign the lines would be much more crisp. This wire can't be bent to tightly. Overall it has sort-of-a-neon-look to it.

Anyone else have any EL wire projects?
