This is actually 2 Donkey Kong machines being restored at the same time.

I realize my pictures suck, as they are from a cheap phone camera, so this thread is more thanking Neil, as I used the primer he did, stole his paint codes, and thanking everyone else who has answered a question for me about electronics, painting, sanding, bondoing, on and on. I'll try to get some more pictures of these posted, before I start on my Dr Jr restore and my Red DK restore.

I primed 3 times, sanding 220 the first time, 220 the second time, and 220, then 320 after the third time. I rolled on 2 seperate coats, and i turned out amazingly, even though the pictures dont show it.

Looks good. What are the paint codes you are using? I am looking for a DK red paint code.

Check Neils DK Restoration thread, all of the paint codes / primer are on there. I dont want to steal his thunder, just thank him for doing such a good job documenting his restore.

Thanks toad. I may give that one a try.

Not trying to steal anyone's thunder, just trying to figure out what paint code you are planning on using. Can you post a link to his restoration?

here is a red pant code that I found .

That red is a terrible match. While cameras can alter color some what that's not even remotely close. I wish I could find the before pics of my cabinet and the freshly painted so you could see a side by side.

I posted codes here:
http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=93414&highlight=donkey+kong&page=3

I had color matching done from parts of the machine that had never seen daylight. DK Blue and DK Red colors provided.
Even color matching is not 100% accurate but these are about as close as you can get to the real deal. Sure wish Prok would've updated his site since he's the one that originally asked for codes.

Did you completely repaint your red cab? Would my best bet for my red cab to have the faded paint scanned, so I can just do touch ups?

I completely painted my cabinet because I didn;t have a choice. One of the sides had some severe damage. I can say if your damage is minimal I would personally leave it alone. History is full of flaws. However if you have fairly substantial damage then I'd recommend you bondo, primer and paint the whole thing.

But to answer your question - people claiming a paint match ...... it's close but not exact. But it can be/will be darn close and useful for touch ups. Good enough unless a person gets up close and personal people wouldn;t know the difference.
