If I had to guess, I'd think a problem in the video RAM, but I'm sure someone with more technical expertise will be along soon to verify....

Is this an upright 2 board pcb?

Most likely the 6P or 6R RAM. Best thing to do is turn off the power, reseat ALL the chips and clean the connector. See if you're able to get a different pic on the screen.

Let us know what style of board you have.

DK Monitor Horizontal lines please help me

I'm all thumbs, but am going to give it the college try

methinx I should call a repairman, I'm a bull in a china shop and am afraid I'll screw it up, maybe never get back together again, does anyone live in southern California, or know any reputable repairman? I'd really like to save this thing and restore it so it ccan sit proud next to my KISS pinball

ok, removed boards, reseated all chips, swapped 6p and 6r, re soldered 6p and 6r sockets. put it all back together, same thing. waaaa, any other ideas please

Has the monitor ever been capped? Have you put the game in test mode?

the monitor has probably never been capped, and as far as test mode what is the sequence,

thanx for replying

It's not a monitor issue. Definitely an issue with the video PCB. Prob something between the video sprites and the PROMs and it looks like it's related to one of the positional counters because of the lines.

PM me if you need it repaired.

If it were me, I would check and reseat the ribbon cables (gray board interconnects) they tend to cause weird issues like this on my 4board set when I haven't played it in a while.

we removed the boards, reseated all chips, reset the two gray cables, re soldered the sockets for 6r and 6p, swapped those two chips, it still does the same thing

any other ideas please

Thanx

gave up and bought a board set from Mike's Arcade, the new board was missing the P10 socket, swapped the socket from old board, video is great now, but it only goes to level 2, the switches are set the same as old board, only difference is on the new board there is a cable set from P12 on game board to P4 on video board, old board didn't have that. Help

I'm confused. If you bought a working board, why did you alter it? If it came as working, you should have been able to just plug and play. It's possible that whatever you did is the reason why it doesn't work properly now....

the P10 socket is the audio out socket, it was missing,I should have sent it back, but I'm pressed for time, my employees and their kids will be at my house Saturday for company BBQ. don't disappoint the kids, have KISS Pinball, DK, Last Lap 2, Air Hockey, pool table, ping pong table, A half pipe for skateboarders, a batting cage, a trampoline, water slide, and a jump house. hope they can stay busy, lol. but I gotta fix the DK
