Ya heard me - dedicated! Always an Arkanoid since it was born at Merit on 1/2/87, according to the handwritten tag inside. Serial # 10305.

Many thanks to Todd at TNT, who shipped quickly and got the coin mechs/wiring working before shipping. The monitor colors are downright pretty - everything works great.

For any of you who've owned one, you know it could anchor a ship; I think it's oak. There are some cigarette burns on the left side of the cabinet, and some wax (?) in various places, but overall it's solid and looks pretty good. I've wanted one for awhile...and I've always wanted something I could hide in my closet besides the occasional bar girl.

Looks pretty decent. Certainly better than the large number living in Pac series and Atari cabinets. Countertop games are not something I am really into, though I do want a MegaTouch.

That is actually quite nice. Never seen one like that.

What do you have it sitting on? I ask only because I am looking for a suitable stand for a megatouch (until the bar is built).

Nice pickup!

Chris

Nice score, I have one as well and love that little thing. I had it in a buddy's brewery for awhile where it paid itself off and then some, and now it sits in the gameroom on a table. Definitely always catches peoples' interest and is still fun to play on a 13" monitor.

I want one... :(

I swear that I just saw one on eBay, but now I can't find it...

It's a little chest of drawers that was custom-built by my girlfriend's ex.

I tried going to IKEA for something suitable, but no dice...except for that one push-cart they have. Can't remember what it was called, but it's a good height for a bartop. Has two wheels on it, lower shelf, etc...

Yup - the smaller monitor doesn't seem to hurt Arkanoid gameplay at all.

I did notice that the graphics (bezel) around the edges seem to look different for some of these. Wonder if they were factory variations?

Here was mine, but it originally was Oak print paper on particle board, not real oak like yours:

I like the color scheme!

What did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

$500. You could do better on the price if you were patient, but TNT shopped mine out really well, and I was eager to find one.

I now have 4 minis, one cocktail, and one countertop in my second-floor bedroom, not to mention a futon and myself. Not sure if I could have a party in there - everyone might end up crashing through to the first floor!

That is a sweet looking machine. When you're ready to sell let me know... :D

Did anything ever come of this idea for an Arkanouid kit?

http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=55161&highlight=arkanoid

It's been sitting 80% done for years now... I haven't had the time or motivation to finish it. I sold my Arkanoid cocktail years ago, so I don't even have a machine to properly test with now. I'm thinking I might build a bartop similar to yours (although I really don't have a good place to put a bartop in my gameroom... so it will probably end up in the kid's playroom). Once I've got a game to play then I'll have some motivation to finish the kit.

I'd really like to release it with an all new set of levels. I think it would be cool to have a level design competition.

This project sounds amazing and new levels sound incredible. There are a lot of people with Arkanoids out there and I am sure there would be some definite interest. If you were remotely close to me, I would bring you my machine to play, test it on, whatever the heck you want! Looking forward to buying one of these if you wrap it up.

Someone on the East coast please take this man an Arkanoid!

That cabinet is awesome! I'm liking everything about it from the overall design to the size, to just the fact that it's Arkanoid.

The idea of new levels is also a really neat idea! I'd help design some if I had any clue how to actually go about doing it other than marking blocks on paper! LOL.

I know I could come up with some challenging and unique level designs though.
