Thanks mate. Maybe I could do a run of these? Ha haha. Actually if another Quick Draw/Fast Draw comes up I will pounce on it. I guess I could offer the art up to someone else who wanted to do the same thing to this machine.

Fantastic, always wanted to do that :)

Yeah its pretty straight forward Dez. I just used a flatbed with the lid ripped off. Then used a T-Square clamped to the PF to keep the scanner straight so the scans didn't get out of alignment which makes them harder to stitch together.

Sorry about the poor photo.

Man so little time to dedicate to these sorts of projects right now :(

I have some updates though.

I have sanded and prepped all the metal parts that I want to spray like the apron, plunger cover, entry apron thingy and also prepped the headbox. The only thing left to prep is the actual cabinet. I am working on some art for that but will wait and see if how the paint job comes up before making a decision.

I have also sanded down the playfield and removed all the inserts because I am getting some new translucent inserts made and some new plastics too.

I did a print of the PF on A3 paper and taped it together to get a feel for the design:

Back to the art. I have made some small changes to the PF which include new art and the light flames. The biggest change is the gradient background whihc was done to match in with the backglass.

Now the backglass and the new name for the machine:

Here is the first mockup:

So yeah. The major art is almost done. I may get a chance to print out another test for the PF because my measurements were out about 10mm.

OH SNAP!

This thing is looking sweet!

I really like the gradient change. Gives it more of an updated "digital" feel more than an older "70's style" without losing the original "70's style". Hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks man. I fully understand.

I just ditched the smoking devils at the top and added some flames because I was told they didn't quite fit in. I like the new flames :D

I like the original blue you had over the new blue background. It seems to not fit with the neon green/pink you are using. The graidant is cool, but I think it would look better if you applied the gradient to the original blue.

The new blue looks like a Powerpoint presentation straight outta 1996...

I see your point Shar. What about if he added some stars in the very upper portion of the playfield? That way it would seem like a transition of standard sky to space. It looks like that is what he went for on the Translite, so I'm sure it would look right down below.

And Spacies, the flames are cool, no doubt. But it does seem like some sort of character would look good on the flames. Perhaps not the smoking devils, but perhaps burning tires, smoking motors, or something like that?

Thanks for the input. I have never used powerpoint :p
I have changed the bottom blue of the gradient to the old blue and also added the tire and motor to the top. I didn't add any stars though:

Better? Should I add stars?

Cheers

That is awesome!!!!You have a cool talent. The board looks! great cant wait to see the finished project.Someday when I have more space and money I want to restore a pin.

Probably wouldn't hurt just to put some on like the translite, then see what people think of it. Never hurts when it's still in the design process to try it out.

Looking cool!! If you wanted to do the shifter/ball launch I bet you could rig one from Getaway, or maybe from a DE Star Wars.

dooodde..

effing........fantastic.......amazing!!

i cant wait to see this thing all togther... i love ed roth stuff anyways but this is going to be a killer rebranding...

I'm very interested in this project and can't wait to see how it turns out. I'll be curious to see how you transfer the artwork etc. as I was thinking about doing a "Dust" themed machine for myself.

Looking good Spacies. If you decide to ditch the reels for an LED score display shoot me a PM. Keep up the good work!
