Greetings everyone; After visiting a friend's home arcade a few months ago I decided to spice up the arcade in my basement, including painting the walls of the room to make it look less raunchy and cleaning up the machines themselves.

Unfortunately each machine has some kind of issue which I can't fix myself since I'm not that tech-savy of a person and the only guy I know that can help with it isn't readily available (though he is coming this week). Three of the four arcade games (Tempest, Sky Shark, and Mr. Do's Castle) have monitor issues which range from moonier to severe, the other arcade game (Assault) has a broken right joystick. Ice fever meanwhile has two broken bumpers, several burned-out lights, and a target feature that can't be hit properly due to the "goalie" blocks not retracting fully when hit, causing the pinball to shoot up instead of maintain it's movement forwards when aiming for the target behind it. The LED lights on the scoreboard are a bit screwy as well, with the second digit on the Player 1 and Player 3 scores being completely absent.

Mr. Do's Castle is the only game you see here that I'm not overly satisfied with; it's my least favorite of the collection and the Mr. Do series as a whole (not to mention I already have it in the 39-in-1 JAMMA board in my primary console game room upstairs) and I'm fully willing to trade or sell it for a better game (as I'm not too fond of the Scramble cabinet design either).

Bellow is my VAPS which should go into a bit more detail on the condition of the collection, along with the machines I'm seeking out. Being an arcade collector in the middle of Long Island does have it's flaws.

If I find myself with many games at some point; the air hockey table will be the first to go as it alone hogs up the whole right wall.

Once I get the room into a more arcade-like atmosphere and fix it up more (or if anyone wants to sell/trade), I'll consider invitations.

now we're talkin'! keep up the good work brother.

Many thanks to you! It's definitely a good addition to the collection and the only thing wrong with it is the shaky vectors of the monitor (plus the screen is a bit distorted on the right and bottom sides of the screen).

paint the walls black and splatter fluorescent paint all over them and hang some black lights.

Thanks everyone for the ideas and such. The room just got painted last week so I don't think black walls would be an option anytime soon, and there's already blue LED lights running along the sides of the room. I also plan on getting some other lights and decorations over time.

@Adam Your 'cade looks pretty neat, I'll admit I want my arcade to be moreso video arcades and to a lesser extent pinballs than anything else.

Looks great, I like the Mr. Do's Castle and all the other games too.

Do's Castle is a good game. That series of games seems to end up in Scramble cabinets frequently for some reason. Not the first time I have seen one that way. Props on having a working Tempest. Even with some issues, its still a working color X/Y monitor and that is a great start. If the guy you are referring to knows his stuff, he should be able to take care of that for you. Not sure if it is a monitor issue or problems with the vector generator section of your Tempest PCB.

To each their own, but for what it is, Mr. Do's Castle is decent, but the cabinet itself gives me nightmares, between the horrifying Universal PCB error sound and the Unicorns transforming into blue with the Scare Cord. Plus the flickering and shaky game screen only adds to it. Even when I first got the cabinet in 2006 or so, I never played it.

As previously stated I already got the game in the 39-in-1 JAMMA bootleg in the console-based game room upstairs, so for me it's moreso a desire to remove a duplicate that doesn't get plays so I can put in a game I otherwise don't have.

Scramble's something I would've preferred over Mr. Do's Castle, had that game not been upstairs on the 39-in-1 as well.
Not only was that game made for an 8-way 360-degree stick unlike Mr. Do's Castle, but it has less nightmare fuel (which Do's Castle throws into your face right away with the scary error hum and the transforming Unicorns)

Scramble...... one of the "temporary games" at the pizza shop that I got really good at.

Yeah.... I want one.

The only games I'm heavily considering for the basement (high priority) are Baby Pac-Man and South Park, both of which seem to be pretty uncommon machines. One of them is definitely going to replace Mr. Do's Castle if I can get it out of the basement.

Here's some closer looks of the Do's Castle.

I can do some pics/vids of the game in action just to give a feel for the status on the monitor itself (though it does have burnin as you can see form the closeup)
