My community is medium to small. Only a few KLOV and RGP folks live here. Not exactly the hottest market for Arcades and Pinballs. Despite that, some show up on CL from time to time. Some nice some not so nice.

It seems like my local Craigslist has a good portion of "What can you do for me in the next five seconds?" type of sellers. They don't post contact information. They don't reply to inquiries. Often, they don't remove items after they sell. They seem to lack basic manners. I suppose its good because I probably would regret dealing with most of them. They kind of remind me of the cell phone in the theater types. The anonymous nature of the web seems to bring it out in people.

Thanks for listening fellow collectors.

I get the same here. just this last weekend I wanted to pick up a spy hunter emailed the seller told them I would pick it up right now with cash in hand. They told me they would get back to me cause they had to rearrange there schedule. Sometimes I wonder if people really want to sell these things or not. They never got back to me.

That's the nature of the CL beast. There are no legal or ethical obligations by the seller on CL. My theory is, never get too excited that you are going to get something, give it your best, but the chance of disappointment is great. Any success on CL is just gravy.

If you really want to see what crawls out from underneath the woodwork, try giving something away. You wouldn't believe how hard it can be to simply give something away. People are nuts.

Actually, it is probably me that is nuts for trying to use CL to give something away.

I have had pretty good luck giving things away. My ad usually goes like this.

Free "x" its on the curb at 23rd and lincoln. I will remove this ad when gone.

Simple as that. If someone writes me a coherent email, I will have the decency to answer them, anything else gets deleted. I usually post a good picture as well. On a nice summer weekend, things wont last more than an hour or so if they have any value.
