My 1980 Vendo Coke machine no longer gets cold and the buttons no longer register for some reason. I called the local Coca-Cola cooler services. I hope they'll be able to help me out. I am willing to spend about $300 to get this back up and running. Will this be possible or am I out of luck?

It really depends on the problem. Sounds like its an electrical problem which could be cheap if they made alot of this model. If its the compressor you might be in trouble unless you can find one locally since they are very heavy.

No Coke, Pepsi! lol... Anyway, if the compressor is gone you looking at over $300 to have someone repair it. You may be better off watching craigslist etc for another machine. In my area someone was selling older coke and juice machines for $50 a piece, most working...

I figured out that the buttons just had a loose connection. Still not getting cold. I'm thinking it's probably the compressor at this point. I found one like it on Craigslist for 200 bucks, but I'd have to travel for it. I'll call Coke cooler services again and see what they say.

Also, I've plugged it into a different outlet. I don't know if I had ever tried it on the previous one before, as the machine had been semi-recently moved there and not used. It's making more noise now (I think), so maybe that's a good sign.

Noise is good...lol

The model number will be on it somewhere, maybe the back or side of the unit.

Just heard from Coca Cola. They said that plugging it into a different outlet may actually fix the problem. It needs to be on a 15 amp dedicated curcuit. I will keep you all posted as this crisis may be averted. ;)

Check the fan on the condenser (next to the compressor). If its not running and the compressor is really hot, that would do it. Also check the fan inside. If its not running there won't be much cooling going on.

If both fans are running, check the compressor and see if its hot or not. If its cold it could be the start relay. If no fans or compressor are running it could be your cold control.

Don't forget to check for obvious stuff like the condenser being plugged up with dirt too.

Exactly... Make sure the fan on the condenser is spinning when you hear the compressor hum. If you post a picture of the machine, I can probably tell you what model and possible some more advice.
