Thanks to KLOV member Lathroum, I got to add a KC to my collection yesterday.

I used to play this game all the time at a game room in a campground in PA when I was little, and always enjoyed it. Not too long ago one came up for sale on the great CL, and I inquired about it but never heard back.

I will post pics soon, but I can't thank Lathroum enough. GREAT GREAT KLOVer.

My daughter is already playing the game and asked me first thing this AM if I can power it up for her when I get home from work. That made the score all the more worthwhile.

So sorry Tim! :(

Glad to see you got it. I was supposed to pick it up on Sunday but family obligations came up. Shows some pics! Was it a pain to move from the basement??

I just had to post here to represent. Karate Champ doesn't get enough love.

All hail to the progenitor of all fighting games.

Werd.

Nice man! KC was my first arcade game and still in my collection. BITD, this was the game I would keep coming back to play. Check out the HSS kit too- a few bugs (that are being worked out) but well worth the investment!!

FULL POINT!

FULL POINT!

Hehehe, love that. Also, last night, my daughter was playing it out in the garcade and I heard the "STOP!" And the next line for those who don't know is always........... "JUDGE"

Well, after the STOP!, I was near my wife in our dining room and at the same time as the game did, I said "JUDGE". My wife, who has no memory of this game at all, says, "did you just call me a b!tch?" It was hilarious.

Not bad at all actually.

Karate Champ is a fun one, I wish all fighting games were this friendly to newcomers. I can defeat 3-4 characters before my quarter is zapped. It would be neat to see this game next to a SFII machine, anyone have a lineup with both games?

I've gotta agree with STG2 on this one- I was describing the game to someone today, and as I said "it's kinda like SF, or MK, or Soul Calibur", I was like holy crap, this is what began it all!

LOL- that's awesome!

I got one for nearly free years ago and had it for a while. Half point! Then the board stopped working (loss of point). However, I still have the board. Half point.

Congrats and Merry Early Christmas! ;)

Dunno if it was a regional thing or some other factor, but where I grew up here in Ohio, you never saw martial arts titles in the arcade. I never got into the karate craze, but know how awesome it is when you find a title you've been looking for for a while... :001_ssmile:

Overheard on KLOV.com about a year ago:
Q: "what is the best fighting game."
A: "If it says Karate Champ on the marquee it is the best fighting game." :)

Congrats

I am actually glad to hear that. I was telling Lathroum about you while we were getting the game out of his house, and was telling him how you'd done a great trade with me over the Summer and that I was feeling bad that bc of me you were going to miss out on this one. I don't like having to compete w/people for games :(
