Hello all.

I traveled about 4 hours from home to purchase a Centipede cabinet last week. When I arrived at the seller's house, the game was set up, and working perfectly. Seller gave me a few tips about things that wiggle loose, etc, then we packed it up, and I was on my way. Upon returning home, I brought the game in, and fired it up. The screen was scrolling right to left, and I was unable to zero it in using the v-hold control, although I could technically still "play" the game as it scrolled, but the controls still worked properly. Later the next day a little wiggle of the neck board finally seemed to solve the scrolling problem.

Unfortunately, now I had a new problem: The game screen seemed to be transposed where the top half of the screen started halfway down, and the bottom of the screen was on top. The centipede would start from mid-screen, and the gun continuously fired without me pressing the button. I could maneuver the sprite (whatever the f that is supposed to be), and hit objects on the screen with the bullets that were just auto-firing. I wiggled and re-seated all of the various connectors in the back to no avail. I tried switching it into test mode, which produced an orange screen, and a continuous, but pulsing tone.

The next day, I started the machine up, hoping to make progress, but now, I was only greeted with a greenish-yellow screen, and intermittent clicking from the counter inside the coin door. Test mode produced the same whining sound as before, and a letter "A" appeared on the screen. Switching off of test mode did not always return the game to the previous state.

Today, I have turned the game on, only to see a single letter "A" in red on an otherwise dark screen. The coin counter was clicking away furiously, so I disconnected it. Switching to test mode still gives me a pulsing tone and a yellow-green screen. Switching back does not clear the screen or the noise.

The board looks very clean, the wiring is neat, and original as far as I can tell. There are some wires on the coin door that appear to have been cut, and some that have connectors going to nowhere.

As of shooting these pics, the screen decided to come up solid orange, and the coin counter stopped freaking out.

I am completely new to this, and don't wish to make these problems worse by tinkering above my pay-grade until it is necessary. Any advice on where to start would be helpful. Thanks.
