No, literally....

I just got done with my second cap kit in a couple days, seemed to go off without a hitch. But then....sizzle sizzle SMOKE!!!

I unplugged the power ASAP, took the chassis out and examined it, not s ingle burn mark or popped cap or anything noticeable on the flyback.

So I rechecked all the connections, put it back in and powered it back on. I had no game picture, a bunch of white lines and the brightness looked way too high.... then a small amount of smoke again, but again I couldnt see where it was coming from.

I pulled the power again, then as it was powering down I heard an arcing sound 3 times....

Did my flyback just take a crap and why would a cap kit cause that?

If not, any other suggestions for what's messed up?

This is a 25K7197 I believe. Black knobs on the flyback. Chassis looked like it never had a cap done before....

Arc'ing is generally indicative of a bad flyback. You could fire it up in a dark room and try to locate where the sparks are coming from but you also run a small risk of blowing out the HOT or other items so be quick about it.

Thanks for the tip! I managed to figure it out. Even though it didnt pop, cap C204 was backwards..... It was severely buldged out, I took it out, put in a new one (the right way) and all was fine....

Not sure about the other symptoms but I think I hooked sync up wrong on my second test, only thing I can think of for no picture....

All white with lines= screen adjustment on flyback too high. Usually it has to be turned down a little whenever a cap kit is installed.
