I was lucky a while ago to pickup a pretty nice but really dirty Burgertime. It is super dirty but complete and mostly working. So far I have stripped the game and I have cleaned the sides:

It's amazing what a Magic Eraser and alcohol will do!

Thanks!

I went home at lunch today and washed my harnesses. I wanted to keep the original tags intact without removing them from the harness so I enclosed them in a plastic bag with tape over the opening.

WOW that's Dirty!

Then I hung them up on the wall to dry after shaking the water off:

Wow, good idea of washing them. I usually just give the harness a good wipe down and leave it be. I'm sure it will turn out nice. Keep the pictures coming!

Some more progress pictures since the last time:

Cleaned the monitor chassis, blew it out with compressed air and let it dry in front of a fan for a few days:

The power block was disassembled and sanded down and shined up:

Nice and shiny now after buffing:

Back in the game, still need to recreate those labels:

Monitor reassembled:

Inside monitor area of the cabinet has been painted:

New t-moulding installed and hardware starts to go back on:

The black bolts for the coin bucket have been repainted as well as the carriage bolts for the speaker grill. I still need to:

1. Reinstall wiring
2. Clean the marquee
3. Rebuild the control panel

I guess this is more of a good cleanup than a restore.

What are your plans for the holes left over from the lock bar? Fill and paint or carriage bolts painted black?

Nice work can't wait to start mine once the weather gets nicer. I think I might do the same on my power supply right now I'm just glad it works. :D

Yeah I'm just going to put some carriage bolts in there. I'm trying to leave the game as original as possible since the sides overall are in nice shape. That means a few sacrifices (like the holes) but it won't be that noticeable in the end.

Last night I repopulated the cabinet and fired it back up so I am almost done! Gotta fix the CP and the PCB issue I have and this is complete!

Down the road when the Midway plates are available again I'll pull the coin door off and refinish the outside.

Very nice work. I like the power supply. I need to do the same thing to the power supply in my Super Pacman. It is nasty. I look forward to seeing the finished product.

I decided to keep this somewhat original. I didn't repaint the cabinet except for the inside monitor area. The sides were cleaned up with magic eraser and then the cabinet was machine buffed with wax. The CPO was replaced with a new one from This Old Game and new Pepper buttons from Game Stencils.

I still want to refinish the coin door but I couldn't find a new Midway plate. That will come in the future.

Now if I can just get my pesky PCB issue fixed I have a fully working Burgertime!

Looks great Hugh...shows that you don't always have to repaint an entire cab to do a nice restoration..sometimes its better to preserve whats there and just clean it up as much as possible. I did same with mine..I had a really nice burgertime that I just cleaned cab up...still need to replace the cpo...I did find a NOS bezel and repro marquee way back when Arcade Renovations did the marquees...so it looks good...I still have your Crystal Castles and that thing is so clean inside...I think of you everytime I look inside..

:) I like them clean!

I agree, of course I would love a brand spanking new Burgertime cabinet that's perfect but then it wouldn't be original. I got lucky with this game in that the marquee is in perfect shape. Not one scratch on it at all and it is not faded. I have a new Arcade Renovations marquee stored away which I will never need.

I would like a nicer Bezel but the one on there is fine for now. The CPO went on flawlessly.

Hugh, I love it. I am leaving mine as original as I can as well. My marquee has a few scuffs and is a bit faded, but it will suffice. I do have new t-molding, a CPO and new kickplate art, but I haven't felt the need to install any of it yet. The reds are definitely faded on the side art, but I'll wait til the paint flakes off completely before I re-stencil it.

Your reds are still vibrant, I envy you:
