my B_T_L_Z_N_ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol..yeah your right on that... i just ordered the braze board for mine and i just bought an extra working board set, can never have to many extra board sets for this game!!!

Where did you score your board set from? I was going to buy the Braze set, but it's $50 and I'm not sure if it will resolve my current issues so one of the folks tied in here is offering to troubleshoot the board for me.

i got mine from road.runner.. i dont know if he has anymore... but you can try!!!

No worries, he's lending me a hand with troubleshooting as we speak. This game rocks, so I definitely want to get her back up and running 100%. One of my wife's cousins already wants to know when he can come down from Jersey to play it LOL

Yeah man, the one I have is the way to go.. I had a chance to get the FRONT SCREEN to replace my periscope but i said NO WAY!!! The periscope is the way to play this game.. I don't even think the cabaret is the way to go either!!! upright FTW!!!!!!

Well, I have a cabaret and two periscope uprights so having one of those without the periscope would be cool in my book. :)

If anybody is selling a kit to convert a BZ into a non-scope BZ... PM me. :D

p.s. Yes... Battlezone kicks major a$$!!!

Today was my last day off from work, but I got to do some tinkering on the ole BZ.. I got the periscope off and cleaned the monitor covering, as well as the plexi's on the inside of the periscope, so things are looking really purdy..

I also got to do a partial cleaning of the mirrored glass (need to remove it to do the upper side but glass and I don't normally get along very well together so I held off today).

Thanks to the help of Mike/RoadRunner, I got the test screen up and found out that I have a low byte error/something with the Math board, and also the ROM at 3FF is showing an error. But without his help, I couldn't have even launched the test screen, because some doof cut out the test button from the coin door!

As far as the coin slots go, one was showing "TOKEN", and the other was blocked out with a piece of black plastic. When I removed the black plastic, I found an original Atari insert in there with the "50c" pic on it. The other one, I pulled the TOKEN sticker off, and behind it was an OEM Atari "25c" insert still in good shape. So, she's looking more like an original arcade BZ, and not the ho on the corner..

After doing all of the cleaning, the monitor image is looking a thousand times better. I can't wait to actually get to play the game now!

You should get the Braze high score kit.

Not only will it reduce your problem with bad roms, it saves your high scores, something that you'll want anyway!

Yeah someone mentioned that earlier on- I considered it but didn't want to buy it if it wasn't 100% going to resolve my game launch problem. Yeah I'd like to have the high score saves, but I want to be able to GET a score first :D

Understood. :)

But because it replaces most of the ROMs on the game it also greatly reduces the likelihood of you having ROM related problems which is one of the issues you're going to face with that HW. It certainly won't cure your math-box error but it will simplify getting the game running.

Good to know demogo. Now that I know I am having a ROM issue, I will probably head down that path now. But yes, I'll need to deal with the demon in my Math board first. Figures, not only did I not do well with Math in college, but now it's impacting my arcade games too. DAMMIT!!!!!

Nick is a math professor -- maybe he can exorcise the demon in your math box? :)
