The High Score kit fixes many of these problems. I have heard many that have fixed it this way.

what are the high score and braze kits? I really can't complain about the game at all, when i got it the guy said the monitor was shot. I checked all of the fuses and on the first power-up i had neck glow! Started reseating chips and connectors and next thing you know i had tank rumble sounds! I went around and looked at the front and i had lit marquee, lights on cp and... Graphics! All within 1 hr. of getting her home. That is the best feeling!

have you tried the brightness and contrast on the monitor?? I didnt have background till i turned mine up...just a thought

hi lucky, i did not adjust those yet bc initially i could see an enemy tank and other objects. I powered the game down for the night and the next am the tanks were gone on power-up.

Get the Braze Hi-Score kit. Like others have said, it bypasses the ROMs so if there is a bad ROM and/or socket it won't matter. I "fixed" mine this way.

Not trying to start anything, just curious as to your response. Has a cocktail been found? Or has it been verified that there never was a cocktail prototype?

And I've used that site a lot for our Battlezone and it's helped out nicely.
It was early... I read that as "cabaret"... d0h... nevermind me.
EDIT: Though MAME has Battlezone cocktail ROMS and they're not listed as proto...

But who knows...perhaps they were prototypes? With full artwork... running ROMS that seem to be identical to the upright but with a flip-screen option...? Can you really call it a proto? My guess is that it's a fully fleshed out version that they decided against marketing because flipping the screen would prevent the use of the color overlays... but what do I know. The fact of the matter is though that I DID, for some reason, associate the quote I posted above to the mini... not the cocktail. I just found these screenshots interesting. BTW: None of the Battlezone literature mentions cocktails, which leads me to believe they were never sold to the "public".

yah man, the on ei have is the way to go.. I had a chance to get the FRONT SCREEN to replace my periscope but i said NO WAY!!! the periscope is the way to play this game.. I dont even think the caberet is the way to go either!!! upright FTW!!!!!!

Even though it seems like it's more for "effect", it really does get your imagination working when you put your eyes up to that thing. I know that it would have been an added expense in game cab construction, but it's a shame that the piece you look through doesn't magnify the view to the screen more than if you look through the side windows.
Maybe that would be a cool mod if a KLOVer had access to materials to do something like that? Like a piece of magnified glass or plexi or something? I would definitely buy that!

I actually taped a couple black sheets of paper over the side "windows" to block out all the light from the "outside world"... I was getting a bit of a glare from the rope lighting I have in the game room... it was pretty kickass, but then I removed them because one side's tape came undone and I decided to go back to "stock".

yeah man good idea!!! dude if anything, make sure you have a white black light in there... ive seen ppl with black lights in some and it makes the colors look weird inside...

I checked the bulb and I'm pretty sure it's a white black light, not the purple-colored one. The only thing is, the entire section inside where the game screen appears looks kind of lit up almost like a greenhouse so, I don't know if I'm missing a blackout panel up top, or if it's just supposed to be that way in there. The pics I see on the web though all have the screen colors looking pretty vivid, almost TRON-like so, I'm wondering if it's my lighting or, if it's just because there's like an 8th inch of smeg on the monitor overlay.

no yours is right, mines just like that.. they are ALL using black lights (purple) which YES it does make it TRON like... you dont want that, it looks like your driving a psychedelic tank...lolol
