I guess I should start this at the beginning. I first had picked up a cab for $20 on my way to work one week. It was originally a Smash TV 25'' Cab. Which has been turned into a few different games in it's life time. Mortal Kombat and GT2K.

Monitor in it, was totally shot. Game board worked, but has its issues. So I decided to build a multicade (60in1) out of it. Trackball and such just to have some fun and give the game some life. There is no way i'm skilled enough to convert it back to a Smash TV, let alone the funds involved were beyond my means. So please don't hate on me for it.

Without the new plexi installed but just about finished.

In the slow process of converting the game over, I had found a guy selling some Cruis'n World's on ebay. Sent him a message and asked if he was interested in perhaps a trade. No deal, and the auction came and went. One bidder. Well a week later after kicking myself for not picking them up I seen the ad on Craigslist. For the same Cruis'n Worlds but at a higher price. Asked how much he would take, and told him I couldn't come up to that.

I had a buddy (another KLOV'r) willing to purchase the games for me and let me slowly pay him back one way or another. He tried to strike a deal, but they couldn't come to terms on things. Had someone else look at the cab's and again no deal. I was told he was looking for a Pac Man. So I shot him another text and asked if he would be willing to trade for the multicade again instead and a deal was finally struck.

In the end, I now have 2 Cruis'n World Deluxe Cabs. Both have cosmetic damage, the monitors are both the wrong size. But both are Makavisions 25'' and 29'' in working order.

One cab works well, needs a new battery to keep the memory. Also for some reason it doesn't recognize the shifter installed? Nothing disconnected as far as I can see. Is it something I'm missing in the settings?

Second cab - missing a portion of the power supply. Has a Cruis'n Exotica game board (which displays grey on the monitors when checked in cab 1). So I will be ordering a new power supply and trying to figure out the color issues.

Finally got them unloaded in the garage, and my niece just had to try it out!

I'm just happy the one works, even without the shifter. I was hoping both were Cruis'n World's with the same rom's to link up. But in the long run it was a nice surprise to have Cruis'n Exotica instead.

Yeah I got lucky that's for sure. But it helped out that his wife is pushing to get some space back. He didn't know jack about the arcades or how to work on them to begin with. So he had no clue what he just traded off.

Sometime tomorrow I'm going to pull the power supply out of the Blitz cab and use that until I get a new one ordered. Blitz probably won't be missed by anyone but me now that these are in the garage.

A couple things on the shifter

1. You can turn it off, I believe. Did you find the setting in the test menu?

2. I vaguely remember that some game I operated back in the day, would turn the shifter off itself, I think it had something to do if a switch was bad, it would disable it. The shifter always has 1 switch pressed in, so if nothing's pressed in it turns the shifter off. I don't believe that was THIS game, though, so it may not have anything to do with it.

Look under that screen with all the different settings, like where you turn freeplay on, etc... there's some extra settings (I think) if you go all the way down.

It may be a dipswitch setting too, I can't remember. I think the game I had that turned the shifter off by itself was California Speed.

I looked it up. It's under the adjustments menu, it says "Disable Manual Transmission?"

So someone has, they probably did, though, because one of your switches is bad or a wire came loose or something. They're really easy to fix though, just a pain to take apart all those security screws.

It was missing the little connection between the two sets of wires actually, which I pulled from the second unit, and put it in there. I never noticed the "Disable Manual Transmission?" I totally overlooked it. Thanks for the help! I'll turn that back on tomorrow when I head back to the garage.

Now it's just a matter of getting the Exotica board working properly. It powers up and displays the game on the screen. So I don't know why it seems to be basically grey on the monitor?

I don't have a Med Res monitor here at the time so again I have to wait till tomorrow to retest after I reseat the roms.

That setting was on the exotica.. it's not in the manual for the world so that may not be your problem. You may just still have a bad switch so it's disabling it on it's own.

Well damn. No biggie in the long run I can live with automatic trans only on the game. Take a little bit of the fun out, but I do have a full second cab to test on, once I grab that power supply. So between the two, hopefully one of them works.

Thanks for looking that up. I appreciate it.
