I guess I should start this at the beginning. I first had picked up a cab for $20 on my way to work one week. It was originally a Smash TV 25'' Cab. Which has been turned into a few different games in it's life time. Mortal Kombat and GT2K.
Monitor in it, was totally shot. Game board worked, but has its issues. So I decided to build a multicade (60in1) out of it. Trackball and such just to have some fun and give the game some life. There is no way i'm skilled enough to convert it back to a Smash TV, let alone the funds involved were beyond my means. So please don't hate on me for it.
Without the new plexi installed but just about finished.
In the slow process of converting the game over, I had found a guy selling some Cruis'n World's on ebay. Sent him a message and asked if he was interested in perhaps a trade. No deal, and the auction came and went. One bidder. Well a week later after kicking myself for not picking them up I seen the ad on Craigslist. For the same Cruis'n Worlds but at a higher price. Asked how much he would take, and told him I couldn't come up to that.
I had a buddy (another KLOV'r) willing to purchase the games for me and let me slowly pay him back one way or another. He tried to strike a deal, but they couldn't come to terms on things. Had someone else look at the cab's and again no deal. I was told he was looking for a Pac Man. So I shot him another text and asked if he would be willing to trade for the multicade again instead and a deal was finally struck.
In the end, I now have 2 Cruis'n World Deluxe Cabs. Both have cosmetic damage, the monitors are both the wrong size. But both are Makavisions 25'' and 29'' in working order.
One cab works well, needs a new battery to keep the memory. Also for some reason it doesn't recognize the shifter installed? Nothing disconnected as far as I can see. Is it something I'm missing in the settings?
Second cab - missing a portion of the power supply. Has a Cruis'n Exotica game board (which displays grey on the monitors when checked in cab 1). So I will be ordering a new power supply and trying to figure out the color issues.
Finally got them unloaded in the garage, and my niece just had to try it out!
I'm just happy the one works, even without the shifter. I was hoping both were Cruis'n World's with the same rom's to link up. But in the long run it was a nice surprise to have Cruis'n Exotica instead.
