alright, I am not one to brag. But I am "that guy" who placed a C-List add looking for old arcade cabinets wanted in my local area. So the other day I get a call from a dude that said he had a Killer Instinct game in a converted Mortal Kombat II cabinet. So i really wasn't interested in anything that new at this time.....so then tells me that he has one that dosn't work. So what it is it you ask? Dragons Lair. OH yah a Dragons Lair. SO i asked if it was complete. Yada yada yada its all there he said it just wont work? so a deal was struck and $200 dollars later he even delivered it for me. So i gave him an extra $20 spot for gas and here is my new project.

...and this should be the last time we hear KLOVers complaining about such methods, because they obviously work. Congrats on your score!

Very cool. I strangely remember that game being released because they made a big deal about it having great graphics.

YUP, Space Ace and DL came out around the same time. The graphics are like your playing an episode of the cartoon series. you have to complete the right combination of joystick and sword button moves so you can continue on to the next adventure sequence.

You can go here for detailed info on the game http://www.dragons-lair-project.com
..also..its proably worth it to get the D.A.P.H.N.E setup and ditch the Laser disc and player. you should be able to sell the LD for over 100 if its not scratched and has no laser rot.

So is the DAPHNE a computer program? so I would put a PC in place of the laser disc player. to emulate either Space ace and Dragons Lair.

Don't wreck a dedicated and complete game by throwing Daphne in there. It is complete, just get it working and enjoy. It is probably the LD player that doesn't work, so just get it repaired or get a new one. The LD player will hold up fine in home use, mine has no issues.

NOTE: You should go pick up the KI in the MK2 cab too. KI boards sell for over $200 alone and an MK2 cabinet is a desired cabinet. You could make some cash off those if you don't want them.

I agree. Don't turn something that you can fix into an emulator machine. Also $200 is a good score for even a non-working machine when it comes to this.

I know that things like this don't last forever but I hope you can fix it so keep us posted :)

yah, diving into the laser disc player is the 1st order of buisness and checking out the sensors and reading eyes? some one has written on the laser disc game it self "BAD" on the lable. dosn't seem scratched or anything but I will dive into the player. Are there any good threads for taking apart that perticular model of player for cleanning and testing?

Check www.d-l-p.com

There is more than you would ever care to know about LD games there. Tons of info.

You can also look into picking up "newer" used LDPs on CL or e-bay. I think a certain Pioneer model is said to be compatable and plays smoother than the original Sony that came with the game.

Keep us updated on this so we can review the log.

Well, I helped out another collector (Vongoosewink) who picked the DL up from me on his way to the Pinball at the Zoo pinball and vid-arcade show. It was on his Grail list so I wanted to help his list out, and I made a good deal on the whole transaction. I am glad A collector has it who will maintain it properly.
