Titled Bits, Sticks, and Buttons: The Unofficial Guide to the 50 Greatest Arcade Games.
As you guys may or may not remember, there have been several threads over the last year in which many KLOVers were calling for a new, fresh, arcade-themed coffee-table book. Alot of you kicked quite a few good ideas out, but none seemed to be showing up in the physical form. Some ideas just seemed to hard to sell on the large scale with publishers, others seemed like logistical nightmares. So I figured, what the heck, I'll give it a shot. This was my solution to provide both myself and everybody else something tangible in their game rooms to read and kick around for when company shows up. Although it's been written more for a newcomer to the hobby, there will be alot of cool stuff that everyone here will enjoy.

You can also click to preview 15 pages of the book.
The book incorporates lots of KLOV folks as well as some other notable gamers in the hobby who have all sent me various photos and quotes to help add their spin on what makes some of these icons so great. There are also a couple highlight pages which focus the reader's attention on the guys that keep the hobby going strong.
The book runs $32.95 for the 80 page, matte-finish, 8"x10", full-color version. Currently it is the only style available. Shipping should run $6 or $7 bucks. So, for just under 40 bucks, you can own a book that is no doubt going to go down in KLOV history as one of the most debatable pieces of work that any of us have produced. Here's your chance to see a bunch of your fellow enthusiasts and games in a real quick, easy reader.
I did the best I could to create something that everyone might be able to enjoy- even if all you enjoy is flaming me for picking the wrong games.
I am no literary master. I don't own a badass arcade or work in the industry. I design landscapes and keep 'em looking pretty- so try to refrain from being to brutal on the presentation. I really, really tried to produce something that everyone will enjoy having on their shelf, on the table, on the back of the toilet, or on the bed (Phet, you sicko).
Hopefully, I can simply be the first in a long line of self-published books from our group. I've proven that it is easy enough to slap together a nice-looking reader for no up front cost to the author. I forsee alot of you guys putting out some great restore books on various projects.
So, what are you waiting for? Order the book and let the flaming begin. lol
Which games made the list and which ones were just not good enough to reach the top 50? I'm hoping this thread can be stickied for a couple weeks so everybody can add their two cents into the listing or quality.
Well, that's it. Questions? Ask 'em here. Or PM. Or whatever. Let's keep it fun folks. Game on!
