So back in 1990 I bought a pair of QBert's for $125, both non-working at that time.
Fixed them and off to the brothers house they went, I was in college at that time.
One was given to his then girlfriend, the other has resided at his house since.

Well recently my brother told me it had died... he wanted a 60-in-1 rather than fix it.
Opportunity!! I offered a Ms. Pac cab shell and a 60-in-1 board, he finishes the cosmetics..
I was worried he would want to gut the QBert for a multi....

This weekend I drove up and picked it up. memory didn't do it justice, it is beautiful!!
One bottom corner was damaged and the CPO needs replaced, but otherwise minty...
Here are some pics.. I have not cleaned anything, this was as received....

Already ordered the power supply rebuild kit from Riptor. Considering the arcadeshop switcher and I have a 24vdc switcher I plan to use for the 30v circuit either way.

Your power supply kit is shipping out today.
FYI, that fan on the power supply does very little. Mount a fan in the hole at the bottom of the cab pulling cool air in will increase the airflow in the cab and help alot.

It blows me away that people have owned games for that long. Up until I got my Asteroids, I only knew of one person who said their family used to have games in their basement. His brother was an op..

Thanks guys, didn't recognize the battery issue... fortunately it hasn't leaked at all... yet..
Will remove ASAP.

VG, been having cabs since I was 15, in 1986 I got my first one, Vanguard!
I've had many over the years that have been sold off, the QBert wasn't gonna leave the family, unfortunately my brother gave away the Atari football before I knew it had died...
Wade Lanham got me going on a dedicated gameroom, I've only had a "collection" the last few years.

Thanks Riptor, Take a look at the loaded van!!... That's PacMan on the back. Mappy would have been a risky/difficult fit on top and I would not have beat the rain if I had been any later getting home... Thanks for getting the kit out so fast, I'll move the fan!

Dude u gotta be the best game packer I have seen.. that damn little sienna kills me..where did you get the hitch rack thats sweet as all get out..............................

That Q*bert looks awesome! You probably remember it being worse because in 1990, repro parts weren't around so that overlay was a bigger deal. Now it's cheap and easy to fix something like that. I only wish I had some original classics in that condition!!

I like the hitch platform too, I have thought a lot about getting a hitch for the Odyssey so I don't have to remove all the seats and kid seats (major pain because my wife makes me use all the optional safety straps) to load it up with a game. Something like that platform would be perfect for moving one game and much easier to deal with and store than a trailer!

Wade

It's my brothers, I'll see if I can find out where he got it....
The lights on it were critical, the game completely blocked the van's tail lights.
600lb limit!

Well, made good progress... Riptor's PS rebuild kit installed and all voltages look good.
A 19-year-old armed with only Radio Shack for parts can sure build a monstrosity, but it worked for 18 or so years, so I must have done OK. The board looks clean again with the proper components. I always get a kick at how the caps shrink over the years.

Also, removed the battery, board looks good, no leaks.
Snagged a NOS CPO on Ebay for $35 shipped.
Monitor is OK, but would benefit from a cap job... slightly dimmer at bottom.

"I am turned on" was a welcome sound. Game plays well, but next a high score save kit!!

OH, looks like the fuse was pulled for the knocker, can anything bad happen if I just put another fuse in, or is there a way to test it before powering up??

Knocker works fine... no fuses blown! :D

TO DO:
CPO install
High Score kit
Cabinet Fan install (I'm leaving the one on the PS too, that is some HOT stuff)

The kids absolutely love this game!
I had forgotten how much fun it is.....

I've been waiting some time now, hopefully a QBert will come home with me in 2011 :D

Nice to see another one resurrected so easily

Hope you enjoy playing it. That is something to cost at nearly $63. But hope you enjoy playing it.
