I noticed a burnt connector (ground wire) going to the top board. I found that the P/S was turned way to high (the light was red) i turned it down to the (green 5.10)

Heres a question, i hooked up a 19 inch monitor to see what the board was doing. It works but im getting a DOUBLE IMAGE. Anyone know if this is the board or something to do with power supply or monitor???

Is the 19" a medium res monitor?

dont know...how would i find that out?
If you know what kind of chassis it is or what game it came out of that would help. If you're hooking the game to an SD res monitor this would cause you to get a double image like that. 720 is med res.

The monitor you hooked up (the 19") is a standard res monitor. 720º is a medium res game, hence the doubled image.

Any sign of life from the monitor at all? Neck glow? Have you checked the fuse?

You've got other issues besides the monitor, I note a burned connector in there.

If you read all his post he sated it was burnt because the ps was turned up to high

Wow - $50. It looks to be in pretty good shape. If you don't mind adding it to the registry I'd appreciate it.

heres a pic of the monitor:

I just hooked this monitor up to see what the board was doing cause the original monitor isnt working. All i get is a DOT in the middle of the screen for the original onitor.. But i do here it trun on.... so i know something is working with it...

As for the burnt connector, yeah the P/S was in the RED.. i had to turn it down.. The burnt connector is the ground wire....

fuse is good, dont see a neck glow, but hear it come on (static noise)

I missed that comment nestled between the photos.

Increased resistance on that pin created heat, causing the housing to burn. It also caused the overall voltage to come down, creating lower voltage on the board (and errors, I'm sure). Turning up the voltage on the power supply provided a "fix" - but at a price. That connector should be replaced, and I'd replace the pins on the board too, I'm sure they need it after that.

Dot in the middle? This may be easy...check and make sure the yoke is connected securely. An off yoke will do just that.

ok i was looking at the original monitor this morning and i found a blown fuse that was under another fuse. Now this fuse is sodered directly to the chassis.. do i just unsoder it, and put a new one in?? is there a better way to do this?

you can try jumping the ends together if you cant be patient and will be kinda risky

Congrats on the awesome score. My favorite game. 5515 chassis are kinda hard to find, so Id make the attempt to repair. Id unsolder the the fuse and solder in a new one for starters.

I think my super off road for $50 or my Ghost and Goblins (search it) for $5 trumps your wizard of wor deal daily!

I would've been on that wizard of wor when it was posted BUT i dont like the game and I didnt feel like driving. Maybe you should thank me :D

Anyways show us some pictures when you get it cleaned up! Classics are classics regardless if you like them or not.
